I didn't know this at the time so I'm maybe just well behind things but appaz Chappel said after the Sydney test that Australia should reconsider whether they invite Pakistan back for future series because they lost 12 tests in a row here.

Misbah suggested in his column for cricket.com.au that Asian nations shouldn't invite Australia back because they've won 1 of their last 18.

Think Misbah probably took the points on that one.

When was the one win? I can't remember it.

Pretty much every side apart from South Africa and England would have a similar Test winning percentage in Australia over the last 20 years, wouldn't they? I mean, the West Indies for example haven't won a Test in Australia since 1997, and are winless in their past 14 Tests (12 losses, 2 draws) here.

Since 05/06 when we defeated Bangladesh 2-0 (2 tests) the record in Asia is:

2008/09, India 2-0 (4)
2010/11, India 2-0 (2)
2011/12, Aus 1-0 (3)
2012/13, Ind 4-0 (4)
2014/15, Pak 2-0 (2) - played in the UAE
2016/17, SL 3-0 (3)

So it is 1 win and 13 losses from 18 tests. Also, in 2010 Australia played Pakistan in a 2-test series in England. This finished 1-all.

Misbah was poor in the recent series but I imagine being captain of Pakistan for 5 years in light of the situation he started his tenure in has worn him down. He has been immense for Pakistan, taking them to number one in the world at a time where they were cricketing nomads and rocked by spot fixing scandals.

Chappelli's comments further reinforce his tunnel vision perception of captaincy: that the only sort of good captain is an attacking one. This isn't true at all.

I definitely missed Ian Chappell talking about something that wasn't Ian Chappell.

I'm assuming it went down something like this:

Slats (or equivalent): 'Both Pakistan and Misbah-ul-Haq have been poor this series, and-'
Chappelli: 'Yes well uh I remember back in the uh 72/73 series when we also won 3-0. I was the uh captain and made 196 in the first test at the Adelaide Oval and...'
Ghost of Richie: 'No crapping on for hours with boring anecdotes or anything like that'

Against whom?

Re. Chappell's comments about the captaincy, Misbah has been great for Pakistan, but his suggestion that he didn't play in the last test wasn't necessarily off the mark.

Once they lost the series, they should have been trying to usher in a new era.

Misbah at forty-two is hardly the future.

On the other matter, CA would be horrified at the loss of revenue which would come with no tests in Asia.

On away teams, their record is not good, but SA has beaten us here in three successive series so their winning percentage must be improving.

Needs more references to Dougie Walters and Jeff Thomson....

His favorite game of the summer is give as much shit to the opposition skippers as possible, hell he was still trying to find fault with every move faf made even as SA were humiliating us.
+ bagging Steve Waugh with 'Warnie'

Misbah has been Pakistans most successful captain since Imran Khan, and the stats also suggest it. He can't win every test series and can't perform on every tour. We have to remember they were number 1 earlier in the year, a feat that they have never achieved in the past.

Chappel ALWAYS makes unsavoury comments about every team, how is this guy still relevant?

prior to the Hobart test in 2011 New Zealand hadn't won a test in Australia since 1985. Sri Lanka have never won a test here.

Pakistan in Australia is like Australia in India - even the very best teams (ie: the Pakistan '99 team or the Australian '01 team) have lost series. Its just the way it works when the conditions are so different.

Scenario for you - just suppose for one moment that Australia is chasing 490 to win a Test in Dubai. Hands up everybody who thinks we'd get anywhere what Pakistan achieved in Brisbane.

Ian Chappell needs to retire yesterday. I'm still rather angry about his derogatory comments against Matt Renshaw's slow batting in Adelaide. The kid's only "crime" was selfishly wanting to be in the middle when the winning runs were hit, and I for one was delighted that he was able to achieve his goal.
