I've done a fair bit of posting on the CSK thread, which along with the Beaumont Kids and Wanda Murders must be one of Australia's most frustrating unsolved murders/disappearances. The two biggest mysteries in the CSK case are a) How did the CSK get the girls into the car, and b) Why did he stop killing, or if he did stop where is he?

I was having a trawl around online last night and came up with this great site:

http://missingandmurderedaustralia.blogspot.com.au/

I'm sure the police have a far more sophisticated system that has all missing persons and unsolved murders in it, each with a heap of data which can be searched upon to link disappearances/murders nationwide. But this site is pretty good for the public. I've only had a quick look and it looks far better than the Govt's public missing person site that has a search function that doesn't seem to work.

A large percentage of murdered women are killed by their partners or someone close that they know. There are two motive categories:

1. A specific motive that is personal such as passion, jealousy, financial. (Motive 1)
2. Sex and killing (Motive 2)

Take Baden-Clay for example. Allegedly murdered his wife to reduce financial loss through divorce and so he could be with his mistress. His motive isn't killing, rather the killing is a means to an end. If free he would be unlikely to go on a murder spree. On the other hand a person motivated by sex and killing is likely to keep doing it......

Motive 1 is usually by someone close so easier to solve (husband, child, work colleague etc). Motive 2 is harder because it's often a random with no links and no leads.

So we can extrapolate that a higher percentage of women on that website are likely to be murdered by someone with Motive 2. We can also extrapolate that it's likely people with Motive 2 will repeat their behavior (i.e. be or become a serial killer)

There's no doubt a percentage of those women on that site were killed by someone close (husband, pimp, jealous ex BF) and the police can't prove it or have little evidence. But there's also no doubt some of these women were abducted and killed by random killers. And the chance of every single one being a single kill murderer is very slim.

So how many serial killers do we have undetected?

Just a quick flick through that site I recall seeing about 3 from Katoomba in NSW. Anyone want to have a crack at making groups depending on geographic locations or age etc.

I've compiled a list from the aforementioned site (will add to it). i know of a few who aren't on there so I suggest there are lots. Let me know if anyone recognises missing/murdered women who aren't on there.

At first look it's apparent most are one off from husbands and boyfriends but I have no doubt we have 1 or 2 serial killers undetected roaming around. 3 girls from Katoomba and 2 from Ballarat raised my eyebrows. One of the Ballarat ones may be consistent with the CSK.

Looking in the Victorian section of that link you provided Quickstraw, there were also 4 (although one on the other side of the road) bodies found at Tynong North. I actually had no idea about this, seems to have been a bit of publicity in 01, but very little since.

Interesting, looks like a definite serial killer, possibly linked to two murders in Frankston as well.

Don't the FBI have some hypothesis about there always being a certain number of undetected serial killers at play at any one time?

I've also never heard of this. Sounds like Serial Killer dumping ground 101. Not sure why this isn't widely known?

Oct 1981 Frankston VIC 55 Joy Summers Anglo Last seen waiting for a bus. Body found Frankston
29 Nov 1980 Tynong North VIC 34 Narumol Stephenson Anglo Last seen Brunswick
6 Oct 1980 Tynong North VIC 18 Anne-Marie Sargent Anglo Last seen Cranbourne
28 Aug 1980 Tynong North VIC 14 Catherine Headland Anglo Last seen going to catch bus.
10 Aug 1980 Tynong North VIC 73 Bertha Miller Anglo Last seen Glen Iris waiting for a tram
30 May 1980 Frankston VIC 59 Allison Rooke Anglo Last seen waiting for a bus. Body found Frankston

That would have to be the work of one or two serial killers. The two from Frankston are both the same age group and last seen catching a bus. The ones found at Tynong North are all the same dump site (3 together, one on the other side of the road). It's too much of a coincidence to say different killers would use same dump site. The odd one out is Bertha Miller at 73 but she was buried/dumped right next to Headland and Sargent. So this killer isn't fussy on age, killing girls between 14 and 73. Narumol Stephenson is the odd one out in that she was buried in a different part of Tynong North.

Check the time lines: The Tynong North disappearances are all within a 4 month period. That's 4 murders in 4 months. Why did this guy stop? The Frankston ones bookend the Tynon North ones and bodies were dumped in Frankston. Different MO, but one thing that links the two different groups (Frankston and Tynon North) is both groups had girls go missing when catching buses or using public transport.

I'll do a google search and add more later. Surprised this hasn't had more publicity. Anyone old enough to remember?

There's more on Tynong North in this thread but here is the dedicated BF thread:

Tynong North

http://www.theage.com.au/comment/six-women-murdered-but-still-no-conviction-20130816-2s20u.html

But no one has. There is an old man who remains a suspect. Devoutly religious, he has always maintained his innocence, but there are intriguing links between him and at least six unsolved murders - the four at Tynong North and two in Frankston.

Allison Rooke, 59, disappeared near her Frankston home on May 30, 1980, and Carmel Summers, 55, went missing in the same suburb on October 9, 1981. Both bodies were found in Frankston North bushland.

The man once lived in North Frankston and also lived and worked near Tynong North. He agreed to two polygraph tests and was found to be lying when asked questions about the Tynong North and Frankston murders.

But he is not the only suspect and after 2000 people have been interviewed and 11,400 pages of notes taken, police remain split. They may be searching for one killer or as many as three.

It is possible that it is a coincidence Stephenson was found in the same area and the Frankston women may have been taken by another man.

What appears certain is that Miller, Headland and Sargent were all the victims of a serial killer.

A detailed analysis by the Bureau of Criminal Intelligence indicated the three bodies found together at Tynong North had been placed there by the one killer. It also showed a series of marked differences with the other three murders.

---

The Frankston victims and Stephenson were left within 50 metres of busy roads. ''This suggests that the three were placed at the first available suitable location known by the offender(s).''

What is certain is there will be a link to the old sand quarry where the bodies were found and the killer. He knew the remote area well and suspected the bodies would never be found. In one case he sawed off branches to use as cover.

---

Certainly one name often mention is Raymond Edmunds, known as ''Mr Stinky'', who murdered Shepparton teenagers Abina Madill and Garry Heywood in 1966 but was not arrested for the murders until 1985.

Police believe he committed at least 32 rapes and remains a suspect in several murders spread over nearly two decades.

Edmunds has refused to speak to police but confided to a fellow sex offender that he had killed ''dozens'' of women. ''If I told them everything I've done, they'd neck me,'' he said.

There's already a thread on this. Just bumped it if anyone wants to discuss. It seems this is quite high profile. Not sure why it has never had its own CIA episode? Is it because everyone is quite sure who did it?

3 girls in 6 years from same area. Police have already commented they feel serial killer may be in action.

2003 Katoomba NSW 30 Ariel Livesey Anglo
2001 Katoomba NSW 24 Kellie Carmichael Anglo
1998 Katoomba NSW 19 Belinda Peisley Anglo
1992 Katoomba NSW 23 Maureen McLaughlin Anglo

That's 4 for katoomba
Ariel Livesey

Remains found in 2012 (9 years later) dense bushland 500m from her home. She was found near Murri St in Katoomba which is quite central. Hard to imagine how no one discovered her for 9 years. Police initially stated they were treating as non suspicious until they performed autopsy. No word from them since.

http://www.bluemountainsgazette.com.au/story/273285/remains-are-missing-ariel-livesey-police/

Maybe suicide, maybe accident, maybe murder.

Kellie Carmichael

Kellie was last seen leaving a lodge in The Blue Mountains. She had a train to catch and had a flight booked from Sydney to Melbourne (she was from geelong). She was schizophrenic so police initially believed she committed suicide. Later they received a tip off that she was murdered. Police now believe she was a victim of a serial killer.

Belinda Peisley

Last seen leaving Katoomba Hospital. Belinda recently inherited a large sum of money and was a heroin user. Police belive she was murdered and think it may have been someone in her social group (junkies). If police believe Kellie Carmichael may have murdered by a serial killer, then who are the other victims? You'd think they would be thinking it's very possible Belinda was also a victim.

Maureen McLaughlin

From Katoomba and attended Katoomba RSL on the same day/night she was last seen at a hotal in Lithgow's main street. Her body was found in a shallow grave 13 days later in bushland surrounding Lithgow.

---

Would like to know if there was anything suspicious about Ariel Livesey but there doesn't seem to be any extra media requesting information which suggests it wasn't a murder.

I'm liking a serial killer for the other 3. We can rule out Ivan Milat as he was arrested in 1996.

I wonder where Leslie Camilleri was at the time?

NSW North Coast Serial Killer

saw this from a link someone posted on the CSK thread:

http://www.mayhem.net/Crime/killersatlarge.html

"Possible New South Wales Serial Killer" (3+) Police fear an Ivan Milat-style serial killer is stalking the Queensland-New South Wales border region. A team of detectives is investigating links between the murders of at least three female hitch-hikers over the past two years.

The latest victim is Lois Roberts, twin sister of Aboriginal actor Rhoda Roberts. Her body was found, bound with rope and electrical cord, in a shallow grave in Whian Whian State Forest, 30km north- east of Lismore on January 8.

The remains of the other two women were also buried in state forests within a radius of about 150km between hippie haven Nimbin and Coffs Harbour. In October 1997, the body of shop assistant Lee Stace, 16, was found in a shallow grave in scrub near the coastal resort town of Yamba.

In November 1996, the badly decomposed remains of Victorian tourist and musician Ineka Hinkley, 20, were found in bushland at Bongil State Forest, 16km south of Coffs Harbour.

A task force codenamed Metz and involving seven officers has been established at Lismore to investigate similarities in the slayings. The leader, Acting Det Insp Peter Gallagher, confirmed the operation was looking at a number of murders and disappearances. He confirmed detectives were linking with several other teams throughout the country investigating homicides.

The task force is understood to be looking at similar unsolved crimes in south-east Queensland. Lee Stace's father Peter said: "There's a dangerous person out there, I'm sure of that."

You can scratch one of your list:
2002 Canberra ACT 23 Kathryn Grosvenor Anglo
My understanding is police know who did it (friend/relative) but do not have sufficient evidence.

Your understanding is complete horse sh*t. I am that relative. You might have heard correct rumours etc, but you haven't heard anything that has cred. Trust me. I saw that investigation from close up and it was led by old school coppers with a boner for the usual suspects. Its now 12 years this year for our family.

Not really. Boom Bap! Its just that one feels compelled to point out gossip and rumour as oppose to fact about a that matter. I have no problem with people's curiosity about things like this, but its important to remember, and I know this from first hand experience, there is a real story behind all the media articles, gossip and innuendo. There are real implications for the family, for the greater community as well. That latter is especially relevant where a theory by one can lead a whole investigation off track.

why don't you piss off back to the RiotAct where you are regularly put in your place for the absolute nonsense you spout?

You are not 'that' relative, you are a very poor troll who desperately seeks attention in the online world.

You can use google. Outstanding. Still doesn't change anything about your info on Kat's murder. Its complete rubbish. I do troll, and I am definitely attention seeking. Don't post sh*t about things you know nothing about other than what you have received via your hairdresser. Honest.
