Injury riddled year already... don't really need this sort of stuff going on.

And yeah, hope the kid's alright. Hope it's just been overblown, heat of the moment type reaction but it sounds kinda serious.

if they had said this stuff to brown and schofield in person it would have gone down a lot differently....

Why? Are you saying that they really are so undisciplined that they would (physically?) fight back to verbal taunts?

And the WAFL is now looking into it, after an umpires report.

The WAFL issued a statement today saying the investigated by the leagues’ Match Review Panel – and until then would be saying nothing more.

...

Bulldogs president Haydn Raitt said Shaw had suffered depressed fractures of the cheek, and would miss 12 weeks of football.

Sorry but McGrath took this too far. He posted a tweet threatening Brown the next time he sees him (has since deleted it) but there are people who have screenshots of it. McGrath should face some sort of punishment here as well.

Thats terrible news.

So McGrath did post tweets threatening Brown? Understand then players responding by trying to calm things down (Schofield at least).

That first tweet looks like a threat to me. Others might have a different opinion.

can someone please post the photos of that here? words cannot describe how shocked i am at this guy's unprofessionalism. shuey gets a chat when he used that one word one time, i know it's only WAFL but they are getting payed to play and you'd expect them to show some sort of professionalism on and off the field being one level down from the big league.

make McGrath famous

i'm saying the fact that they couldn't confront brown about it in person and instead took to twitter as keyboard warriors shows me that while they preach the whole looking out for your teammate stuff, that it obviously doesn't count if they're a big bodied AFL player and sticking up for your mates in that circumstance is best left to the cowardly insults over the internet.

To me that's clearly a threat. It's not like he hopes to see him so he can have a friendly chat. I have no idea what happened on the field so won't comment on that but Toby McGrath and whoever else aren't helping anything with their comments on twitter.

mcgraths actions are inexcusable. and brown has not been found of guilty of anything yet. well done on the eagle players for defending brown (although shueys tweet was a bit low belt) but mcgrath and such although their teammate has been injured whether accidentally or intentionally there is no right for them to threaten and abuse brown.

12 weeks? Shit you have to feel for the guy, thats just horrid.

Im pretty pissed at Brown to be honest. Shaw is seriously impressive and this will dent his draft ratings.

No Shaw in the Champs is a serious blow to WA's prospects.

McGraths comments don't surprise me in the slightest.

It shouldn't matter who ever he is, being pissed in regards to talent has nothing to do with it, if it does go down to tribunal or whatever it should be decided on incident only, wonder if this would be this be as big if the player was a fringe type player, obviously the player that's been hurt is one of there best and creating a bigger impact.

according to this tweet, it was an accident

Adam Guglielmana ‏ @2GOOGS ironic???“@WillSchofield:mad:tobymac39 @cdellolio_ A lot of big words on twitter, hope u all had a 1st person view of the accident!!

I don't think Browny is the sniper type like others have stated before, but he should definitely serve some time for recklessness if that's the case.

Hope Mason Shaw will be alright too!

Innocent until proven guilty!!

However it's not looking good for brown. 50-100m off the ball. 17 yr old kid ends up with a badly broken jaw/cheek bone.

It needs to be investigated. If what they say about brown is true and he is found guilty he needs a severe penalty and it should be referred to the police. Off the ball incidents in involving violence have no place in football and society. Being an AFL listed footballer does not put you above the law.

The eagles have done a tremendous job in cleaning up their image by cleaning out the players with bad character and poor attitude. I'd hate for this too set them back.

Someone needs to speak to masten about his choice of words and tell him to pull his head in. Reality is both masten and brown are expendible and can be replaced by players with more talent and better characters.

I thought shuey and schofield handled the situation perfectly.
