So technically he's still at Melbourne, so we will have to trade for him? Our first round pick?

Also, isn't it kinda shitty he was going to come here then dogged us at the last minute. To add to that he has a mental condition that makes him unstable. Do we really want him? I mean seriously.
Surely if he wanted to come to Freo we wouldn't have to give up a first round pick. Melbourne would be lucky to get a token pick

No. He officially has nothing to do with Melbourne.
He is open slather if he nominates.

You'd have to be on crack to offer him a big money deal. I'd baulk at anything over the league minimum.

I'd gladly give him a spot on the list for a year.
That's what I thought of Melbourne offering big money for a guy who played one very good year and spent the rest injured.

Yes. He has been delisted.
He is available to any club in a draft.
Melbourne has confirmed this.

"It’s understood Clark, 26, is still on Melbourne’s list despite negotiating a payout for the final year of his contract (2015).

Unless Melbourne coach Paul Roos can convince Clark to return to the club, the Demons would seek to trade him during the off-season.

The alternative would be to delist him, however the club chose not to do so at its first opportunity last week."

this was posted on the afl site today

After crossing from the Brisbane Lions, he played 15 games in two injury-riddled seasons with Melbourne and was contracted until the end of 2015.

The 26-year-old was due to be delisted at the end of this season and AFL.com.au has been told he is still expected to part ways with the club.

However, the Demons could seek to arrange a trade for the tall forward.

That is confusing.
Melbourne announced recently he was delisted and they have no holds on him.
Highly unlikely any club would trade for him in which case Melbourne would de-list him if they have not already.
Either way no Vic club would be interested given his circumstances.

He just needs to nominate us as his preferred club, start training with us and make it clear that he needs to be home for genuine reasons (yes he's said that before...) then no club would seriously make a play for him and we will get him as a rookie or pre season draft

You would assume anything outside of WA would be off the cards. WCE don't need another fwd. Logic would point to us being in the box seat

There's a fair chance that he could end up here IMO. Pretty good outcome for us if so, we'll basically get him for nothing.

I would definitely look at getting him. People can have a sook about how he took the dollars and ran to the Dees, but since that time we've found it incredibly hard to land any FF with a remote bit of talent regardless of how much cash we throw around. When Clark wasn't injured he managed to do quite a bit with the absolutely woeful supply from Neeld's Demon midfield.

I don't want him particularly. Big risk on the injury front, had a long and troubled rehab. Some players are never the same again after a big injury.

Depends what he wants I guess. Two years ago he was asking us to meet a package that would have seen him the highest paid player at the club - ahead of Pav, Sandi, Fyfe, Mundy etc. I wasn't all that fazed when we passed on that and let him go to Melbourne. If he comes to Freo he'd have to be a lot cheaper than that now.

Seems every man and his dog on the main board thinks he is the perfect fit for Freo. I don't think so. If he comes cheap we can look at picking him up, otherwise we just pass. He isn't a need player for Freo IMHO.

Assuming you're a bloke, I hope your wife maintains good mental health if that's the way you think...

My biggest trepidation with him would not be his mental health or his supposed lack of loyalty to us (a club that was not going to pay as well as Melbourne, his eventual team). I would be more concerned about his durability because of his injuries. If he can convince our medicos that he is physically sound - and they are different medicos to the ones that had a shoddy magnifying glass on Gumby last year - then I'd be keen for Clark if the price was right.

He wouldn't be a bad pickup to be honest, I also think getting Griffiths from Richmond should be done as well. Will help that 'lag' when Pavlich leaves.
