Mitch Clark Return..

He's only combative with journos that ask stupid questions, wants them to give greater 'effort'.

The problem is that it is part of a journalist's job to ask stupid questions. Stupid people follow AFL and want to see coaches answering stupid questions in the paper. Every other AFL coach seems to recognise that and get on with it. I guess I am in the minority that doesn't think it's big or clever for Ross Lyon to go around belittling journalists who are just doing their job and would get sacked if they responded in kind to him.

Journalists would love it when coaches give "loaded" answers in the vein of this one.. it creates more interest in an otherwise mundane weekly press conference, as evidenced by the amount of posts on this forum about it. Lyon did the journo's a favor, don't go painting it as though they are hard done by

I think that applies to Malthouse. I don't personally think Ross belittles journalists. Most of the time he mucks around with them and has a joke. Once in a while he gets a little exasperated, but I wouldn't consider him rude or ignorant.

So let me see if I have this right.

I'm homesick I want to go home.
Moves to Melbourne and gets depression.
No link I'm sure.o_O
I have to leave Melbourne to get better. I want to spend time with my family in Perth.
On second thoughts I just don't want to be with a bunch of losers cos it's depressing. Melbourne is fine.

Maybe I have missed something but I can see this ending really well.

yep- pretty bizarre- think we dodged a bullet with this one.
wish him all the best though- clearly got serious issues

Doubt he thought Melbourne was such a negative losing culture in 2011 as directly compared to the proportions it was by 2013..

I can't believe all the Melbourne players don't have mental issues coming off the ground to disappointed fans with huge losses 4,5,6 years in a row.

That kind of starring scrutiny, then being in the news and on footy shows for monday at how disgraceful the team is, and the club. Then looking inside the rest of the week, wondering if you are a component of the train wreck.

I saw this coming and commented that there was zero chance he would play for Freo because he played us (or his manger more to the point) for money. He said he needed to go home to family, back-flipped for money at the final moment. Freo had nothing to do with his downward spiral apart from his management at the time wanting a bigger cut. To now blame Ross over a small joke is ludicrous. And the joke was kind of funny, but not in a grow a "mo" in November funny - just a serious joke at a guy that wants to play an elite game at the highest level again - under the spot light again. Potentially getting injured again.... up and against everything again...

Really this has all gone beyond America, beyond Shane Warne, and far beyond blue...

this is about media blow up, nothing more. Lets stop this protect and blame game and allow people to call a spade a spade.

BTW I wish Mitch Clarke the best of luck. I loved watching him play and he is a talent and hope he can get on with footy and avoid the lime light. I suggest a manager that helps him achieve that. As a tall forward history suggests time is on his side.

Just a bit of a correction on this, he didn't leave Melbourne and come back to Perth. He has stayed in Melbourne and continued his treatment there. Came back for a holiday to catch up with family but has continued to live in Melbourne since leaving the Dees.

The fans are getting there.

I'm not sure Colin Young should get to take the high ground in all this. If everyone had of held their nerve, Clark would most likely have ended up a Freo player when he left Brisbane after declaring it was his intention and the only club he wanted to go to.

However if all of a sudden there is a third party entering the bidding with a lot more cash, who stands to make a nice little earn on a percentage of that.

Has he or Geelong suggested they're doing anything like that?
Ironically Melbourne are on the LCHF diet. Training on the other hand...
