How is Clark more a risk than Gumby? At least he has proven he can play at AFL level at an elite level.
There are questions over Clark's mind and body. Gumby just had to worry about the body.

A mentally and physically fit Clarke would be perfect for us....unfortunately not sure if he will be OK on both counts, but playing in WA at a club with a genuine premiership opportunity should be good motivation. Hope we could get him for a third or fourth rounder if a trade is required. The good news is that Roos and Lyon are mates so we should be able to work out something if we are keen.

Not too many 200cm ruck/fwd blokes running around proven AFL performer and we desperately need one in Pavs last year. Taberner, Apeness minimum two years before consistent footy. Proven AFL player but agree Dees deserve nothing and neither does Clark tbh. Dees stole Clark from us by throwing a $2M offer under his nose last second and he took it.But if Clark wants to come home, he has to tell every other club he is not going anywhere by Freo and see if they want to force him to the draft and get nothing. No way any other club will take the gamble on a bloke who walked from a $600k p.a pay cheque because of depression and we will pick him up as a rookie.

I'm still firmly in the Fyfe eventually to play as a permanent forward camp. We need to recruit some gun mids to fill in their so we're no robbing Peter to pay Paul. Decent mids are probably easier to find than decent tall forwards.

And what did drafting Gumby cost us? Not much. We have nothing to lose by investigating the possibility, obviously if Clarke asks for 500k a year then we can tell him to shove it, but if it doesn't cost us much we actually aren't risking much.

Makes a lot of sense, if we were somehow able to trade for a gun mid Fyfe could go forward and have stints in the mid in certain games. The problem is that Fyfe looks good up forward at the moment because a mid is going with him to defend, if he gets a key defender it's a different story..

I said recently that I don't want the campaigner but after the weekend, I'm gonna do a 180 and say recruit the motherlover, stat! We need more swagger and more players who want to impose themselves on the game and we need forwards who can do this. If Clark can be gotten for the right price, do it.
