I'm loving how from the point of view of Brisbane and Melbourne fans this is supposedly a 'bidding war'!

If we get him we get him but has the penny dropped yet that us supporters here at Freo aren't terribly fussed either way? He wants us waaaaay more than we want him. Still if he comes, welcome aboard son :thumbsu:

EFA
Obviously someone who matters at freo is seriously interested.

That's a shame, would have loved to have him @ Melbourne, but now we can look at other options and Freo & Brisbane can now work out a deal.

Never said there was zero interest. We're offering what we're offering- if it doesn't happen, it's not going to be a huge dent in our plans going forward. Simple enough to understand I would have thought.

But yes, as a supporter, I'm slightly concerned about what were offering for this guy. If I was a Dee's supporter, I would be down right embarrassed.

The reality is that you have absolutely no idea what the Melbourne offer was, neither did the tabloids.

But didn't the Lions reject 16 and 20. Screwed the pooch on this one.

1) As reported by Damien Barrett
2) Trade Week's not over yet.

I disagree.
I think we all have a ballpark idea now. Clark and his manager themselves have both come out and acknowledged what a generous offer it was... They wouldn't have considered it even for a moment had it not been due to the established fact that he does not want to play for Melbourne.

The Manager has said he wants to go to Freo but if no deal can be done Melbourne is a possibility i.e wants certainty rather than PSD.

All this does is drag it out to 5mins before the end of trade week and Brizzy says to Freo match Melbourne or he goes to Melbourne.

So, from 'acknowledged what a generous offer it was' you're able to work out what it is?

Do tell, don't give me this 'ballpark' stuff, because that could be anything.

Is there anything (other than picks) Freo can offer us for pick 12 in a 3-way trade? Don't know your list inside out but I'd assume the players we may be interested in would be untouchables for you guys.

Just my opinion Freo fans....16 and 20 EVERY DAY of the week. You're not going to get Mitch Clarke or close with that in this draft. Chuck in a 2nd round to 3rd round swap as well. Your window is closer than what most would think.

fremantle's next offer to be ....

pick 20 and Jack Anthony :-P

I'd keep JA and play him in the backline, and send pick 20 and Michael Johnson to the Lions. Johnno has undoubted talent, just needs someone to kick his arse (hard) and make it happen. Lyon might be the person to do it, but I'm sick of his finger-pointing and half-arsed efforts... A fresh start might be the go for him - take him out of his comfort zone, away from the back alleys of Northbridge and make him earn his team-mates' respect and a spot in the best 22.

Pros: 195cm, can play forward or back, good skills.
Cons: A bit soft, needs a good dose of HTFU and lessons on how NOT to point.

Would Lions' fans be interested in MJ?

Actually, don't worry... I've just thought about it and fully expect a barrage of 'No f'n way"... :o

Its as simple as this:
Clark will be a matchwinner if not already one,He would be Freos 3rd most dominant player behind pavlich, sandi and on par with mundy,He is a BIG GET for both clubs either way you look at it.

If he comes to Us its because we have paid OVERS for him no doubt about it,But i would rather clark for the next4 years instead of 2 top 18 year olds who would play much in the next 2.For Melbourne to rapidly improve and climb the ladder he is exactly what we need, hence the reason why we are paying overs.

As for Freo, yous would be a genuine top 4 side if you had him in your forward 50m, and i think the mistake youve made is by not stitching him up monday or tuesday,

Anyway we will find out soon where he goes and i still think he will get to Freo for obvious reasons, but PLEASE freo fans stop the crap about you dont want him,let himgo to melbourne......It would be a different story when hes slotting them from 50 at subi infront of a packed house.

He will go to Freo so stop the negative press docker fans!

I don't think any of the Freo supporters are talking crap when it comes to how we feel about getting Clark. I'd say most of us do feel that if we get him at the right price we will happily take him but are definitely not interested in paying massive overs for him as we have had to learn from experience in the past that paying too much for one player will cost us in the future. And we've had to learn this lesson a lot in the past!!

From our perspective we need a proven KPF and atm Keplar is about as proven as Clark in that regard. Clark is much more versatile and a better player all round but not worth two first draft picks more than the big Kep as a KPF and we dont need another ruckman.

I doubt very much that he will end up in the PSD even if Freo only offered pick 20, as the PSD means Bris get absolutely nothing for Clark and they wont do that just to prove a point they will swallow their pride and do whats best for the club. Its BS how players can do this and screw over the clubs that develop them but it happened to us with Tarrant and multiple others and if the past is anything to go by it will happen this yr to Bris.

Mate, I'm suggesting your club has offered what most of us consider too much for this guy, hell, I think what my club are offering is too much. You saying Melbourne haven't offered a massive package here?... because you'd be in the very small minority there...

So Brisbane went crawling back and took 16 & 20? lol

16 + 20 is looking short while MFC is offering 12 + something and Clark hasn't ruled it out. 16 +20 looks OK when it's the only game in town. Freo can't give Brisbane earlier picks they don't have. In the end that is 16 + Palmer for Clark from Freo's perspective.

Mate, Maaa-aaa-aaate, Mate. You usually have to offer overs to get players to move in a trade unless there's a go-home factor or an imminent-flag factor. What's so surprising that MFC would offer overs - I'm in favour of that - front-load it and it's like a sign-on bonus and the salry paid in later years of the contract is more equitable with your existing list. Existing players want to play with other good players. MFC has plenty of room in the cap with Scully's exit. Struggling to see your point? Mate.

Yeah but if the guy says he doesn't want to come to Vic then it doesn't matter what we offer, Brisbane will have to accept Freo's offer, make them deal with a third club to get a better one or risk losing him for nothing. Brisbane want a high pick so they can go after Tippett doesn't look like its going to happen though.
