Yeah but if the guy says he doesn't want to come to Vic then it doesn't matter what we offer, Brisbane will have to accept Freo's offer, make them deal with a third club to get a better one or risk losing him for nothing. Brisbane want a high pick so they can go after Tippett doesn't look like its going to happen though.

Did I say something different?

Sorry misread what you said.

According to this article it's still not over. We're a very long shot still but if Brisbane & Freo can't work out a trade between them we're still in the box seat.

"After 24 hours of contemplating Melbourne's offer, he's still trying to be traded to the Fremantle Football Club," Young told afl.com.au's Trade Week Radio.

Young confirmed Melbourne had offered pick no.12 in this year's NAB AFL National Draft in exchange for Clark, but said news from the Lions and Fremantle was harder to come by.

"I'm not quite sure with Brisbane and Fremantle, they've been quite quiet in letting myself and Mitchell know what's transpiring so I'm not 100 per cent (sure) what the last offer was," he said.

"I'm happy to let you know he's going to try his luck and wait until Monday and hopefully we get it done and if we don’t, as we all know, Melbourne are in the box seat."

Young hinted Clark had not ruled entering the pre-season draft.

"We're all hoping the deal can be done and if we get it done quicker, that's great, but if it gets through until 2 o'clock on Monday, we all know what happens from there," he said.

“I’m really grateful for the interest shown by Melbourne and the way they’ve gone about the negotiations but my strong desire is that Brisbane and Fremantle are able to reach an agreement that will allow me to return home to WA,” he said.

“If no agreement can be reached between Brisbane and Fremantle, I’m firmly committed to nominating for the pre-season draft.”

Clark has also advised both Melbourne and Brisbane of his intention to return to Perth and sign with Fremantle.

That article is from the Fremantle website and is completely different to the sister article on the AFL website. It seems as usual the media has it's own agenda when in truth he only wants to play for Fremantle.

Can any one confirm if Melbourne only offered Pick 12 or Pick 12 + Compensation pick?

Yeah you can have him, he's a bit of a hack anyway and too soft. We need someone who is going to crunch packs and kick 4-5 goals a game. His best year was in the ruck and we already have Jamar, Martin & Gawn anyway. Glad we were able to force Freo's hand and make them pay overs...

:o:p

Jesus, I go out for a couple of hours and all this shit happens!

OK, so we need Mitch to say "Freo or bust", then we take pick 16 off the table. Stick that up your arse, Kerr.

basically said Freo or bust. Has turned down truckloads of cash from Melbourne and GWS and still says Freo.

Pinching myself, normally we are on the wrong side of players wanting to go home.

Another club would be mad to take him before us, as he wouldn't want to be there.

LOL - you do realise Mitch has been desperate to get back to Perth for well over a year - he was bitterly disappointed a trade couldn't be arranged last year. Anyone can read the writing between the lines. Freo could not be fooled by anyone on this - not much different to the situation Freo found themselves in with Tarrant - just the other way round and a question of what Freo does offer Bris, if they have offered anything concrete at all so far.

Melb only doing a PR stunt and fooling their supporters (also embarrassing themselves with the offer and possibly causing problems with some of their established players re pay etc) - Melb never had a chance

Can't say I'm that upset that we missed him as I've never thought too highly of him as a permanant forward. Obviously the coaching staff saw him as an ideal candidate for a role at the footy club though, so it's disappointing in that regard. Hopefully we have had some other irons in the fire while all this was going on.

Cant say im too upset we missed out on him either. Probably would of had to spend his first year in the WAFL learning how to play CHF until Lynch decided to hang up the boots. Would of been handy as a fourth foil to Darling Lycett and Kennedy I spose but you cant win them all

LOL why would the club be embarrassed for they need a KPP and made a late play for Clark it didnt work so they move on, Even if a club think they are only a 2% chance of getting a player that should stop them for having a crack, Its what trade week is all about

The AFL needs to write something into the next CBA so this stuff stops happening.

The PSD is practically free agency at this point. Stupid.

I guess that's why there will be free agency then!!!

Mate, Maaa-aaa-aaate, Mate. You usually have to offer overs to get players to move in a trade unless there's a go-home factor or an imminent-flag factor. What's so surprising that MFC would offer overs - I'm in favour of that - front-load it and it's like a sign-on bonus and the salry paid in later years of the contract is more equitable with your existing list. Existing players want to play with other good players. MFC has plenty of room in the cap with Scully's exit. Struggling to see your point? Mate.

Whatever will help you get to sleep my friend.
Melb threw a ridiculous amount of cash at this dude- still got rejected and that my mate, is all she wrote. :)

It will be Clark to Fremantle for pick 20 or Clark to WCE for pick 23. Fremantle made a trade with GWS to get pick 20. Ask yourself why did they do that especially as that trade is a good win to GWS.

It was so that Freo could better the WCE offer of 23 without giving up their only decent pick in this years draft pick 16. Bond as usual is dragging the trade out but Fremantle will not get Clark in the PSD it will be for pick 20.
