16 and 20 for 34 is the fairest deal. Freo can push it and offer just 16 but better just to pay up, players will want to come to your club in the future if they know you will pay for them to get there.

Case in point - our 1st 12 years.

All paying overs has done in the past has encouraged players come come and take a 3? even 4-7 year holiday and get paid for it. This isn't going to happen.

At this stage Brissy should take pick 20 if we throw it on the table. Clark has said everything short of telling every club to piss off if he enters the draft which he isn't allowed to do. no one will touch him.

Croad ? You played him in the wrong position plus players coming home is different. Tarrant i get.

I see what your saying but you've gotta chase players that really wanna play for you, thats your job to find that out.

If you dont get this done because you want a bargain and Clark has to go in the draft or whatever why is a player going to want to nominate you in the future ?
 
I really respect Mitch Clarke that it actually wasn't about the money for him, he received what I assume is a much larger money offer from Melbourne, and knocked it back because he legitimately wants to move closer to family.
 
So Clark is having a spit the dummy time and told all that its Freo or bust .Well the AFL stepped in the other day and said the 4 way deal involving Omera and others was not what the trade is all about and rejected it.
So now the AFL must tell Clark whatever deal is done you have to go with it and thats that and that he cant tell all where he is going .

Hang on, Judd was allowed to go to the Eagles after he chucked a spit the dummy time and he gets tons of money outside his contract and the AFL allowed it but wont now let other clubs do it.

Clark is an average player and has not shown he is worth a lot of $$$$$$ but he must go to where the draft takes him not where he wants to go .

So AFL , show some guts and tell Clark to do that !

AFL didn't mind when Tarrant said Collingwood or bust last year.

Players have to agree to a trade, draft picks dont.

Would be funny if pick 4 said there's no way im going to GWS though.

the landscape has changed, players leave, pick a club and generally get there for unders, the AFL wont step in because if it goes to court we will end up like the NRL.

I would have respected him a lot more if she had aired her grievances to Kerr initially before allowing them to be posted on Freo's website.
 
any news on what Freo are currently offering? I would imagine considering the crows are keen to secure compo picks that the lions are hopeful of getting pick 16 and the palmer compo pick.

The problem is that if Clark was a SA guy then a straight swap with Clark and tippett would take place, so freo need to come to the table with a offer that satisfies the crows you would think...hence why it is taking so god damm long

I have a much more pessimistic appraisal of the situation than you.

The Palmer compo was traded to GWS btw.
 
Seems pretty dodgy that Clark's interview was given to Fremantle's website. He's doing his best to screw his old club it seems.
 
this is all turning sour for everyone involved.

FYI i have spoken to someone who knows mitch personally, and they have indicated that Mitch really doesn't care if he doesn't play footy at all next year, or ever again for that matter (if he can't get to freo via PSD).

His GF is a model that lives in Perth, hence why his desire to head home.

My friend admitted that he doesn't have a very good grasp of what life is like in the real world, should he walk away from football. he has no qualifications, degrees or experience and hasn't done anything other than play football.

Interesting take on the whole situation.
