let me let you guys know something none of you clearly know

r.lyon gave the go ahead of pick 16 and 38 to the club (he also had a couple of other targets though) even before trade week however it is still being negotiated as the power makers at the club are not as keen as lyon

we are all going to find out who is actually in charge at fremantle from now on ???

r.lyon actually has a plan for fremantle

clark (CHF and 2nd ruck role)
pavlich (FF very minimal midfield role)
MIDFIELDER (replacement for r.palmer end of rd 1 comp pick)

(IMO they will then look to either move z.clark or j.griffen (m likely) maybe this year or next) otherwise someone will get pissed getting no games and the value will simply slide

the key foward/ruckman is a very important role nowdays due to int rule and should not be undervalued (think m.kreuzer and d.petrie)

another thing none of you would of heard was he wanted to get b.rutten for FB and put l.mcpharlin at CHF however rutten point blank wouldnt leave SA so nobody even heard anything (they quickly moved attention back to m.clark) lyon wants to build the team from the spine

Did you really have to make your writing so big? how do you know all this. ( i doubt it is true.

The truth is if it was just Brisbane and West Coast doing the trade it would of been sorted out by now. Chris Bond is impossible to deal with. Pick 16 in a weak draft with something thrown in for Mitch Clark is a fair deal.

And before Freo fans start, lets talk about Robert Warnock. Bond complained all trade week a few years ago that pick 24 in a strong draft was not enough for a out of contract Warnock who was determined to go to Carlton. Warnock at that time was also playing backup to Seaby at West Perth. Clark has more trade value than Warnock.

Also don't keep repeating that line we don't need Clark. Your other tall forward options are Bradley, Jack Anthony and Michael Johnson. If you had drafted a few young talls things would be different, but Lyon didn't walk out on St Kilda to go to a club that has Keplar in their best 22. Some Freo fans might feel they don't need Clark but Lyon wants him.

that sounds to me like bondy's doing his job, ie. making sure we don't get shafted and protecting our interests. doesn't everyone want that at this time of year from their reps?
someone is going to blink sooner or later.

The problem is that trade period is just one week. It should be much longer like other sports, but when it is only a week to sort out all of these deals clubs have to be sensible. West Coast have put an offer on the table which Brisbane are prepared to work with, yet after 3 days Bond still can't put together a reasonable offer.

I know right? how un-organized are Freo that they can't get a deal in the whole 3 days of a 7 day trade week?......btw, how is the Ebert trade going?

The Clark trade is the biggest trade of the week. Once that trade happens other deals will fall into place like the Ebert deal.

for brisbane maybe, but i'd say we've been more preoccupied with the jaeger deal. now that's dead clark will take precedence.

I know this goes against our normal nature, but why don't we work on a deal with WC, Port and Bris.

Freo
Griffin --> Port
Pick 16 --> WC

WC
Ebert --> Port
Pick 23--> Port

Port
Pick 6 --> Bris

Bris
Clark --> Freo

Freo gains
Clark
Loses
Pick 16
Griffin

WC gains
Pick 16
Loses
Ebert
Pick 23

Port gains
Griffin
Ebert
Pick 23
loses
Pick 6

Bris Gains
Pick 6
Loses
Clark

Not perfect but could be worked on.

If Mitch nominated for the ND would he reach Fremantle?

would Brisbane waste their 1st round pick to get him back? No

would Port Adelaide use pick #6 to get him? probably not but maybe, but it would be slightly too much for Mitch

So the question is would Richmond with pick 15 or GWS with picks 1,2,3,4,5,,7,8,9.....etc pick him up???

I would be surprised if GWS did not pick him up in that scenario

Port,GWS and Richmond. One of them would get him Probably GWS because they have 8 of the top 10 picks and then 11,13,14.

Clark ain't worth pick 6 for starters.
Brisbane's pick #30 or #34 would have to go to West Coast in that scenario, otherwise they're winning the trade by too much, and West Coast is only getting a pick upgrade for losing Ebert.

I think the trade makes sense from value perspective for Port, but a rebuilding team is never going to trade down from pick #6 to pick #23 in a weak draft, even if they are getting a couple of useful players.

The difference between Hoskin-Elliot/Kavanagh/Buntine and the players that would be available at #23 is pretty stark.

Hope we land this guy.

Pick 12 and a filler is more than enough.

Would he come to Victoria?

Well we have cash to burn so money isnt a worry.

We have a well respected coaching staff.

And he is apparently close friends with Jade Rawlings.

He would need to change his mind about wanting to go back home though, and thats probably only a 10% chance.

Fingers crossed.

Mitch Clark would go to Melbourne if he was paid enough. GWS can afford to blow a first rounder on him anyway and back themselves to convince him to stay. Freo will need to make a trade for him. Won't get him any other way.

According to Colin Young he has already knocked back a HUGE offer from GWS.

I applaud any club that picks up a player that doesn't want to be at that club in the PSD. Having a disgruntled player who wants to go home above anything else will be great for the club culture.

Everyone welcome on our boards, but please dont give us uninformed opinions about 'Mitch would not agree to go there'. Do your research and understand how the PSD works. Melbourne have a prior pick in the PSD and assuming they match his terms, he has to go there or sit out.

Saying that, this will just drive Freo to give us a fair deal, on the threat of missing him as per the scenario above. Will need to be 3 or 4 way deal but it WILL be done today. Win-win for all.
