Everyone welcome on our boards, but please dont give us uninformed opinions about 'Mitch would not agree to go there'. Do your research and understand how the PSD works. Melbourne have a prior pick in the PSD and assuming they match his terms, he has to go there or sit out.

Saying that, this will just drive Freo to give us a fair deal, on the threat of missing him as per the scenario above. Will need to be 3 or 4 way deal but it WILL be done today. Win-win for all.

Nice appraisal.

Unfortunately for Dees fans, the extent of our involvement in any of these discussions seems to be providing leverage to other clubs bargaining positions. Not great when a guy in his prime wants to leave the club so if Melbourne's involvement helps the Lions get a little more value out of the deal that's a good thing.

I think we should give up more for Mitch, we should really give Brisbane what they want, because you don't get anywhere in life being mean to people. Do unto others and all that, next time around, Brisbane will do it for us and we'll all be happy. Mitch is the best player floating around this trade period and we shouldn't let him go to the ND or PD because we want to make sure that we compensate Brisbane so that Mitch feels he has done the right thing by his old club.

We need to generate good karma - we know what it feels like to be shafted by another player/club at trade time and we aren't going to turn clubs attitudes around by setting another bad example.

Big hugs to Brisbane. Love you guys.

Fail: Today is Thursday

It could be a brilliant tactic in keeping Brisbane nervous/anxious so that in the end that accept either the Compo Pick or a Round 2 + player deal.

Yeah na.

Money > Family.

/Clark
Yeah, right.

Clark said personal reasons largely linked to his family's health had led him to contemplate a move home as early as last year's trade period.

"I'm very close to my family," he said.

"I'm one of four boys. Mum and dad were living in Brisbane for about 14 months and they both got offered jobs back here and they decided to move back about a month ago.

"I'm very close to both my grandparents on both sides. My nanna's got terminal cancer. I'm very family orientated and was very close to my nanna growing up.

"Brisbane allowed me to come back and visit her earlier on in the season, but now I just feel like I want to be around more often and spend some more time with her."

Clark said he also wanted to be on hand to help two close cousins, who are in prison but are shortly due for release.

"It's very unfortunate that they're there," he said. "I'd rather not go into the reasons why they are, but now that they're coming out I want to be around and be able to support them."

Clark said a move to GWS had never been a consideration.

The goal has always been Fremantle. He saw no place for himself at West Coast given their dominant ruck duo and mix of tall forwards.

Yeah? You must be a real w***er.

Why are you so offended?

You know it's true, Clark is always after as much money as possible and he has tried to screw us over in the past - ala Bradshaw. If Melbourne offer him a massive paycheck he will go there.

Clark apparently got offered 750k from GWS I doubt freo would give him more. Bradshaw left because gubby offered him up for trade.

So if he was after money he would have accepted this deal. Accept the fact that Mitch wants to come home to WA which leaves us in the box seat.

I agree with you re: Clark (but time will tell), but Bradshaw was your own fault... If hadn't have been shopped around without his knowledge for Fev he would have finished his career a Lion.

can't see us getting Mitch Clark now.

too bad, so sad. Oh well, I would have liked us to chase (someone like) Tippett before him anyway. Would probably be worth about the same at the trade table, but worth a LOT more to us.

Nobody at Freo is going to be crushed if Clark walks to another club, or Brissy get a deal for more than we want to pay. Good luck getting the most for him you can. Would love him in purple, but not at the price Brissy want. We'd be willing to pay what he's worth to us, which is probably less than most teams as we have extensive ruck stocks (Sandi, Clarke, Griffin, Bradley - hell even MJ or Silvagni ruck in a pinch). His value to us is as a pure FF, where he's good, but not as brilliant as the ruckman who plays forward.

Hope you get what you think he's worth. Freo haven't even made a play for him yet, which suggests they are trying to see how things pan out with the bidding, or are completely disinterested (unlikely). As other teams seem to be offering more than we are likely to, we are likely to let it slide. And he'll either accept one of the other clubs offers, or go to the PSD and we'll take our chances. Either way, we'd get him for pick 16, we have our pick 16 left to use, or we've already spent it getting (someone like) Tippett into purple.
