Matter of opinion. IMO you are massively overrating draft picks.

Yer right in so far as drafting has its risks and this draft is thin but then we're rebuilding and drafting early picks is what we follow.

For us to throw in both picks +the rest you want would be setting ourselves up for a swabbolly trade scenario.

I sympathise with you guys, I know how unfair it can be.

Both parties are doing as you'd logically expect in their relative situations.

Kerr's job is to create competition, or at the very least, the illusion of competition.

Bond's job is to keep cool and read the play.

That's the obvious conclusion. But it doesn't make sense. A compensation that can be used in different years holds more value than pick 20 that can only be used in this years draft. If they were going to trade it to the Lions then why turn it into pick 20? I think that maybe we intend to use it ourselves or have another purpose for it. Maybe we are going to trade pick 16 but still want a pick in the first round.

Perhaps they feel he may slip through to pick 20 and we can release pick 16.

Either way you'd expect Clark deal would be our sole focus today and expect an outcome today.

If not I hope we simply move on and do what else may be required for the week and take chance on Clark in other scenarios.

Cant let this deal go right through to Monday and stop us from pursuing other potentials, there are heaps for us to explore.

However look at the history of trades for all clubs for top 20 picks. Not many actually make it. In fact even look at top 10 picks over the years.

No way can we give up both but the difference between 16 and 20 isnt great if you have players in mind that fall into that bracket.

Another way to put it is that Fyfe was obviously available at pick 20 and had we given up pick 16 that year and retained 20 we'd still have got him.

im torn.. i am certainly in the "get clark" crew, i rate him. he is soo much better than bradley adn MJ... but something doesnt sit right with me... not having a first round pick has never worked for us.... i just hope we can keep one of 16 or 20
