Are we worried about the cap impact if Clark indeed comes with a big price tag. I know the veteran rule and front loading contracts will save us from some of the pain but Mundy, Pav, Fyfe and Sandi all reportedly signed big deals. If Zarke, Balla, Broughton, Morabito and Barlow all reach potential they will cost a bit at the next one.

I think Zac could be developed in Clark's role and I think it is why most fans have a get him cheap or not at all mentality.

I think one question that needs to be asked is ... do we actually need Clark? He wants to come home and that's to our advantage but we don't need to move the Earth to get him. If we make a good deal (2nd and 3rd round picks) and they don't take it- then we lose nothing and have a chance of getting him in the PSD. If we do get him we will have Sandi, Griffin, Clarke,Clark and Krapler... thats alot of big fellas!

I'm starting to like the way the dockers board are dealing with this I'm not entirely sure he's the answer to all our problems. It also shows that they do have faith in Griffen and Bradley who showed he can be just as good a goal kicker as Clark.

Would still like to see Clark with us next yr but not at all costs.

I get the feeling that Brisbane don't want our compo pick because it effectively makes them admit they made a mistake by activating their compo pick. A straight swap of Clark for our compo pick means Brisbane only gain pick 30 for the loss of Clark.

completely agree. We have a reasonable list when the majority are fit. We have some quality young players too. I would hate to see us trade out griffin, ibbottson or duffield to get clark over. HAVE WE LEARNED NOTHING FROM OUR HISTORY??

I can't stand the 'grass is greener mentality with trading. Another preseason in Zac Clarke and he will be an excellent ruckman

Ok it is late... But chill Winston, I am perhaps stupidly confident that 16 will not go for Mitch. I am also reasonably confident the comp pick will be kept in hand. I reckon bonds steel nerves will hold and it will be take it or leave it. PSD bitch...PerhapstThis is more what I would do than otherwise...my 2 cents..

I think I have the solution.

The only way Brisbane are going to accept the deal is if Pick 16 is there. So, we have to get rid of Pick 16.

Pick 16 to Carlton for Bower + Pick 22.
Pick 22 to Brisbane for Clark (It's the best we can do Brisbane, we haven't got a better pick sorry).
Priority Pick + Kepler + Crowley to GWS for Pick 15.

Freo:
In: Clark, Bower, Pick 15
Out: Kepler, Crowley, Pick 16, Priority Pick.

Carlton:
In: Pick 16
Out: Bower, Pick 22

Brisbane:
In: Pick 22
Out: Clark.

GWS:
In: Palmer Priority Pick, Kepler, Crowley
Out: Pick 15.

Or course, Brisbane and Carlton are getting screwed, but that's the aim isn't it?

Finally some one is talking sense! Been saying that to mates since Clark wanted to leave. Rather give up a bare minimum for him or nothing at all, lions fans really believe he ll stay ala Ryan Okeefe.

That's the worst case scenario I guess (in a good way). I could only see that happening if they all became elite and commanded it in which case we'd likely have a premiership cup in our hands.

It'd be a good dilemma to have - see Collingwood.

How is this for left field based on Carlton needing to clear players and $

Carl:
Out - B McLean, Bower
In - 2nd round pick, Roberton

Bris:
In - Compo pick, Mclean and Keps
Out - Clark, 2nd rnd pick

Frem:
In - Clark
Out - Compo, Keps and Roberton

This has been my feeling all along, I really like the idea of Clark joining us, but it's not a 'must have' AFAIC and so I don't see why we have to bend over backwards to find a top 10 pick out of thin air (apparently that's what Bris have in mind) or players that don't want to go (eg. Ibbo) to get the deal done in trade week. We don't have a lot to throw at Bris to start with, they should, and probably will, realise that and take what we can reasonably offer. Yes it will be 'undervalued', but they nearly always are in this situation.

If he ends up at WC or someone else, so be it, if that's worst case then so what. If he does got to PSD then we're still going to be a reasonable shot there.

Yeah, but another big thing is that if the deal goes down the toilet and Clark ends up in the PSD or ND Melbourne would get him before you.

That doesn't worry us, if he goes to Melbourne in the PSD Brisbane get nothing which is a win win

Melbourne are interested in Clark and could use pick 12.(According to TWR)

I don't think Melbourne is all that close to Perth.

FFS, cotter. Give it away, please. Melbourne can offer you both their priority pick + pick 12 + Jurrah + MCC membership. Clark isn't going to agree to play for them, so it's irrelevant.

We all know what it's like when a player bends you over a barrel. You spend all trade week trying to find another trade that is better for you, only for the player to end up where he wants to go and you get unders for him.

That's how it works when your uncontracted players walk.

Come on down Z.Clarke:D

Bottle of champane to Melbourne after trade week:thumbsu:
Melbourne may not be Perth but it certianly isn't impossible to convince clark to come to them with the potential they have; not to mention the $$$ they could offer. Clark could easily get 600-700k at the demons

Oh really? What potential is that? They could potentially be bottom 4 this year. Clark knocked back GWS money, he's unlikely to be lured by Melbourne money.
