How could you possibly know that we aren't?

Well the transfer of compo for pick 20 was perfect chance for them to throw in a player also.

Otherwise how do we get these players?

Offering upgrades in round 2 and 3 could work but GWS probably couldnt care.

One of pick 16 or pick 20 will be used on Clark.

The other you'd assume on draft.

Even though Young is involved with SNF, I still think Barra has more credability than that flog Hagdorn.

I don't disagree with you, just thought I would mention it :)

Obviously extra picks are involved but pick 16 and pick 20 for Mitch Clark is absurd.

If we pay that, I will...... be very upset.

Waylen Manson and Shane Kersten would be cheaper than Clark by a long way and with a big upside why bother with Clark at his price tag?

Yeah, you are already getting one of our most promising young players from us, we should be chomping at the bit to give you a second promising youngster to help get the deal done.

Haha, we needed someone to lighten the mood. Well done. :p

Joking around..

Rhys Palmer - One good year, Rising star, pick #7, questionable knee
Mitch Clark - One good year, pick #9, very injury prone early

Looks about the same, Mitch is way taller, I don't know if he's four picks better taller though.

We need to fill quite a few spots, and theres some quality mature age players that we could pick up. Why arent we doing this with GWS?

GWS don't have many pre-listed players to work with anymore, can't imagine seeing them trading a lot more away.

They've traded away 6 (Morris, Elliot, Clarke, Saad, Millera and Brown). They'll probably use at least another for themselves (Tim Mohr), and maybe more. They might keep a few for next year too.

KPP who have the versatility to play almost anywhere have greater value.

This time last year we had already done 3 or 4 trades. Wish we could of been on the money and done the trade the Saints did.

Agree.

Mzungu and Faulks basically came to us for small downgrades.

Can't see GWS interested in small upgrades in rounds 2 and 3 when they have 15 picks or thereabout in first 20.

There is some quality out there and if we picked them up Id be happy.

I think we'll need to toss a player to GWS to upgrade one of pick 16 or 20 and get someone off them also.

You aren't wrong there. Mitch wants to play for us, I'm looking forward to the AFLPA backlash should you screw him on that one. Free agency at last.

Then Woodside could just buy us a premiership team and we can play Carlton, West Coast and Collingwood every year.

my guess it will be

Clark, 29 and 34

for

16, Palmer compo pick and 38

and will be done soon

Exactly, he is uncontracted and has said he wants fremantle.....nothing else needs be said.....melbourne arent getting near him!!!!! they can have pick 20, nothing more.....palmer was valued at pick 20 and he was a rising star winner and is younger. end of story!

You rate him way too highly. I don't care if we miss out on him, let him go into the Pre-Season draft. We will still have picks 16 and 20 in this years draft and will probably be able to draft a better player than him anyway.

Matter of opinion. IMO you are massively overrating draft picks.
We still have a number of positions to fill in key areas long term that will be best filled through the draft.

Clark fills nothing for us. Ordinary at CHF and we have ruck depth. Why give up plenty of multiple picks for him? No one's been able to elucidate how this bloke wins us more games.

I agree.

Once you get past top 10 picks players are often hit or miss.

Even the top 10 doesnt lock anything in.

Pick 20 or 16... meh surely club has 2 or 3 players that they hope to be around that selection. If they all went 16, 17, 18 would be bit ridiculous.
