Apparently, Fremantle are not really showing any interest in Clark based on the trade that've offered for Clark. A player we've invested 5 seasons worth into a top 10 draft pick.

Jarrod Oakley Nicholls went at 8 in that draft......one pick in front of mitch clark........and we can get him for free.

The point is, it doesnt matter where he was drafted......we picked up marcus drum at 10 in that draft and sent him to geelong for next to nothing....its all based on wat the player has done and in mitchs case its not a lot......so dont be expecting to much in return

Not necessarily. Imagine him being completely rid of home-sickness and he turns on a stunning season for you Dockers like the 2009 one he had for us. :D

That's kinda the point though, considering the bolded he really hasn't produced anywhere near the output you'd expect after that timeframe.

Considering his age I think it's fair enough to suggest his scope for further improvement isn't great, and his value would be significantly lower than a top 10 pick today IMO.

Yeah he's tall and from WA, I wouldn't want to part with a first rounder for him.

In respect to clarke hes done abit more than both drum and JON, making the all australian short list a couple of seasons back, hes been more than serviceable since.

given his position and age he is worth our first rounder if not more... BUT given his contract status we're doing the right thing by holding out and hoping the lions bite the bullet and take something like our 2nd rounder rather than nothing.

got a feeling in the end it will be our pick 16 that goes for him.

Same with Rhys Palmer. Pick 7 and we would of got hardly anything for him if it weren't for GWS.

yeah well wen your considering handing over first round draft picks, you dont base it on imagining what the guy might do....otherwise you end up with broc mclean....the guy has had 2 average years since his break out season which suggests to me that 09 was a flash in the pan.....plain and simple he is not worth a first round pick.....the more i think about it he is worth our second rounder and thats it......2009 was a long time ago buddy

i was not suggesting he was as bad as them i was just making the point that you cant just say "clark was a former top 10 pick, give us your 1st rounder".

Also i cant for the life of me see why we should hand over 16....every time a club has a selection in the top 20, the expect that pick to be a lot better than wat mitch clark has been to present

I find it highly ironic that Freo fans are criticising Lions fans for saying he was a first round pick and has had one good year when those were the exact reasons why they thought Palmer had value.

Admittedly, those were indicators outlined by the AFL but that puts even more weight to the point that they do in fact matter regarding Clark.

Are you serious.... there is a big difference between a genuine trade between two clubs where everyone is looking for a fair outcome to when one of the expansion clubs swoops on your players with the outrageous concessions they have and we have to plead with the afl to get decent compensation..... we werent taking anything from anyone when we received compensation.

Just for the record i do think we were overpaid for palmer....i would of been happy to let him walk...hated him from day one!!!! And also brisbane owe us big time for the headland deal....... we sold the farm for that guy and he never laid a hand on the pig skin again

I didnt say it was the same circumstances, its just funny that the same points were put forward as to why you should get good compo for Palmer. Now you think it doesnt matter.

Mate the AFL had to give us what it felt was fair compensation. We are under no such obligation to Brisbane.
