Melbourne- LOL.

Seriously, never been too bothered with this one. Let them have him if they want him that bad. He wants to come to us, didn't start the other way around.
He is what he is and I think we at Freo know that.

In all honesty, I don't mind if we do get Clark or not. I would actually be just as excited to keep picks 16 & 20 and see what Lyon can do with Pav playing out of the square.

Young has said the Clark is thinking about the Melbourne offer but his number 1 preference is still to be in Perth and at Fremantle so he can be close to his family. This one won't get done until Monday meaning I would be very surprised to see Griffen traded this year.

Just as well that your family don't want your company then;)
Who needs them, i've got everything I need in my unlit box of an office. :p

I wonder if Bondy would still have traded the compo pick if we weren't 100% committed to trading at least 1 of these picks for Clark. That could now be a big spanner in the works and a waste of a compo pick. :o

This is getting more and more desperate, similar to when we brought in Tarrant. If he's actually thinking about it then pull back. Freo will be lulled into a panic and having to offer trades that will only embarass them more. Medhurst and pick 7 for Tarrant anyone? Clark is not in the Ablett/Judd bracket and he knows that this is a prime opportunity.

Melbourne is doing what we used to do. A player is available, he has a preference and they've come in with a Godfather offer out of nowhere to trump it all.

Melbourne offer was something they didn't see coming, it sounds like Clark is having a strong think about it.

For 800k a year why wouldn't you? That would be at least double what we're paying I would have thought.

If Melbourne end up giving 2 mid first round draft picks and that sort of money then they must be mental. It's like going to an auction and someone offers twice the market value. That's when you just step aside....

$800k a year to live in Melbourne and play footy at the MCG, I am sure he is thinking long and hard about it, it would be fair to say Freo are offering both Clark and Brisbane a lot less than Melbourne are. Freo should have put this one to bed early in the week, and it has come back to bite you guys.

Personally, I am already looking at what we might get at 16 and 20. Compo pick probably would have meant a missed year of AFL development in whoever we pick in this draft. if that makes sense?

the only fools in this trade are melbourne.

No they were always going to pounce. They were spewing last year when we made a huge play for Davey. It is payback time.

If Melbourne are willing to pay that, and Mitch accepts it... good luck in Melbourne big fella. There's no way Freo would be willing or able to match the offers to Clark or Brisbane.

Eh? We haven't lost anything if he ends up going to Melbourne. You guys win big time, Melbourne pay miles over the odds.

I think you're forgetting it is Clark who wants to come to us and started this whole thing- not the other way around. We don't get him and I think most of us will still somehow find a way to get to sleep at night.

On a side note, claiming that being able "play in Melbourne on the MCG" is going to be some big attraction to a dude who has stated he wants to come home to Perth is just confusing...

I doubt it. It may come back to bite Melbourne, however. I'd be more than happy to keep picks 16 and 20

why melb need a key forward so they are making a play for clark thats what trade week is all about.

Im still pretty confident that he will end up at Frem.
But you are giving up Ablett like currency for someone who would not be in the top 100 in the AFL.

If this is a real offer (and not a Kerr offer) then you are paying massive overs for someone who doesn't really want to be there. If it goes ahead it should go down as one of the worst trades in AFL history.

$800k over 4 years is the sort of deal reserved for the elite of the comp. I think that's how much we paid Pav at the end of 07 when he was arguably the best forward in the game and our captain.

That offer is nuts if true.

PLEASE make a play this year :(

Davey's horrid
