The Brisbane Lions would tell Mitch they hope he enjoys the Melbourne FC if that was your offer.

Melbourne wouldn't pick him up. They couldn't afford a disruptive influence. My guess is pick 16 will do it. If Melbourne hadn't of been interested you would have got nothing.

So have I got this right?

the position now is:

- Clark still wants to go to Fremantle,
- He won't agree to a trade to Melbourne
- If no deal between Brisbane and Fremantle he goes into the PSD
- If he goes into the PSD he reluctantly accepts that Melbourne will draft him.

So Fremantle can't get him for nothing in the PSD and must make an offer
Melbourne don't need to make an offer, they can just wait and see if he slips into the PSD
Brisbane, if they want something for him will have to garee to terms with Fremantle.

.. that's how I read it.

I'd say that's pretty bang on the money. But if he repeatedly restates his desire not to go to Melbourne and come to Freo instead in the weeks leading up to the PSD he might be able to scare Melbourne off.

Reports say that Bris are very keen on trading for Melb's pick 12 yet all the reports seem to infer that they are not at all interested by our offer of pick 16 only 4 picks lower in the draft and they also do the right thing by helping Clark get where he wants to go.

With this in mind I doubt we have offered pick 16 yet and definitely havent offered 16 + 20. Bond and Lyon both said earlier in the week that they wouldnt be giving away pick 16 so hopefully they are holding to their word and offering pick 20. I think they got pick 20 so that even if they have to give up pick 16 for Clark then we still have reasonably early pick in this draft and we will hold on to that pick.

Agreed. Would rather take our chance in the PSD than trade 2 first rounders for a player who wants to come to us.

out of curiosity, how do people rate clark as a 23 year old to sandilands? there has been a lot said about how clark is rubbish, not worth a first rounder etc etc.... i personally think that at the age of 23 clark has it all over sandi. who really imo didnt arrive as a player until he was around 24-25... not saying clark is going to be as good as sandi, just trying to even up the talk on here.

clark is not as good as what brisbane say he is i.e worth two first rounders

but he is certainly not as bad as what people on here say.... i reck pick 16 straight swap is fair

I'd like Clark but not for two top 20 draft picks. I really hope the clubs doesn't stuff this one up. Seeing as Port have just got Renouf we wil keep Griffen and don't need Mitch as much.
