Taking Clark for free in the PSD would be the ducks nuts ,but to make sure he gets to Freo he could nominate for the National Draft , eg luke ball from saints to pies , & we pick him at 20.

You would surely think that Brisbane ( Pick 8 ) & Melbourne ( Pick 12 ) would not use their picks to try & shaft us in the ND as opposed to one or any other team trying their luck in the PSD.

But most of all I am a greedy prick & want to get him in the PSD for nada.

Voss/Kerr should realise that trying to save face from previous years **** ups is to actually have a player that is in contract before trying to throw their weight around.

I have wondered this - when is Melbourne's first ND pick?

If we think he's worth one of Pick 16 and 20 and Brisbane don't agree, why not just draft him with that same pick?

EDIT: Forgot they had pick 12 (face-palm)

Here here........brisbane should have taken pick 20 when they had the chance........i so hope we stick it up em' now and get him for zero! Voss/Kerr=epic fail

Does Clark's manager Young care whether he goes into the ND or PSD?
Is there any 'transfer fee' involved or is Clark treated then as an out of contract player and his manager gets nothing?

I'm pretty sure he can't negotiate his own contract through the ND. And we all know that Mitch Clark wants the money. Luke Ball was being paid peanuts at Collingwood.

Melbourne have pick 12, which is what they offered to Brissie for Clarke. So he would have to get past them in the national draft. so if they wanted to take him before us they could. Whether they would do it knowing that he doesn't want to be there is the risk we would have to take. If a deal with Brissie can't be done. If they don't deal with us they risk getting nothing for him.

So the way I see it, Damian Barrett is making crap up about us trading 16 and 20, we say bad deal, Brisbane say take it, Barrett reports Brisbane rejected it, now an hour later we have Clark saying Freo or nothing and have them over the barrel and we are supposed to believe we offered 16 and 20 before actually speaking to Mitch about his position with Melbourne? WTF. Trade week is 90% complete horseshit. Channel 9 making stuff up about a deal being done, more BS, blah blah. Looks to me like Tarrant in reverse, we hold the cards this time and will get the best of this deal, whatever that might be.

Yeh I know, I had a momentary brainfade - I did edit my post for stupidity.

Unfortunately I think it would be even more likely that Melbourne would take Clark through the ND rather than the PSD due to the fact they wouldn't have to agree to any contract stipulations (I'm pretty sure that's true anyway).

But yeh, at least it means a GWS-induced compo pick is out of the equation and its trade with us or get nothing in return.

And they need all the quality picks they can get their hands on.

TWR bris say they didn't reject pick 16 - 20 offer. makes sense since they would be crazy to do so. Don't expect us to offer more than one of them at this stage.

Yes it would eliminate the compo-pick from GWS (from what I can gather) which is better for us. I was a bit surprised by your question considering your previous posts.

I am guessing you will be wrong as that is way way too much in favour of the lions .

I am reckoning it is Pick 20 or PSD .

Pick 20 versus picks 30 + 34 are almost on par so it's essentially a straight swap Clark for 16.

There's a reasonable chance that who the Fremantle Football Club rate at 20 will slide to 30 anyway.

If Freo want him - they can't let it go PSD or he will end up in GWS/Melbourne colours.

I reckon it will be 16 > Clark in the end - which is good for both ends (particularly Freo)

Can GWS participate in the PSD?

IIRC, last year GC were ineligible because they had sufficient concessions (salary cap, early picks etc).

Thought the same would apply to GWS, especially as they have the additional benefit of the mini-draft.
