Is it absolutely certain that he's 100% committed to living in Perth? Unless there's some family issue, I reckon he could be talked around to living in Melbourne.

This article from earlier in the year might hold the key.

"Clark is happy with the club after the meeting he had with Vossy after trade week. Before then, there was speculation about their salary cap and he had some illness in the family.

Don't get why Freo are even after this bloke, must be Ross Lyon's obsession with him. They've already got Sandi, Zac and Griffin. If I was Freo I would be putting everything into getting O'Meara, not Mitch Clark.

We're chasing him as a forward which is part of the reason Freo supporters are gun shy about giving up too much for him.

His best footy seems to be as a ruckman and we're a bit wary about paying the price for an A grade ruckman to receive a B grade forward.

Perhaps you'd like to tell us all what else he does.

Why would I do that when there are numerous posts in this thread that outline the type of player he is. It's very easy for you go and watch some of his games so you can see the type of player you guys are lucky enough to get in trade week.

I was replying to this from your good self.

He's not just a ruckman...

If you think any Freo supporter isn't aware by now what Mitch Clark does, then you haven't really been paying attention. This thread itself is 50-odd pages, let alone the 1000+ posts on your board.

I guess some of us a just a bit skeptical on the "Mitch Clark is a gun forward" sales pitch. A bloke who has kicked 61 goals in 6 seasons with a best of 27 isn't a gun forward.

So, if he's not just a ruckman, and not a gun forward, then I was simply wondering what else he does.

If you don't want him, we will keep him, the next 2 years will see him become a dominant footballer. I think this trade period will be the making of him. He will either go home or man up and realise that his time in footy is short and he has to make the best of it wherever he ends up. I hope Freo plays hardball and he stays with us!

It depends what sort of forward you're after.

As a stay at home forward I'd give him a C-. This year when stationed close to goal he would get frustrated with limited opportunities, then try to leap from behind taking huge speccies and get petulant and sulky when things didn't go his way.

On the other hand, as a CHF given license to roam right up to the wings Clark has shown he can be an A-grader and a game-winner. If any Freo supporters want to see what they might be getting then Rd 10 against Adelaide is a good example of the damage he can do (he snagged 3 brownlow votes).

That ties in nicely with some thoughts I posted on the Freo board the other day:

I'm hoping Lyon will use Pav as the stay at home FF with Clark as the Riewoldt-esque roaming CHF pushing up the ground. If Clark's best footy is as a running ruckman then hopefully that type of forward role will suit him better than being a stay at home target... and anything that will help prolong Pav's career has to be a good option.

In that case if Clark's happy in Freo (which he hasn't been in Brissy the last couple of years) then you'll likely hit the jackpot and will soon be laughing about what a great deal you got.

There would definitely be Freo supporters who think Clark is just a ruckman.

Had his first extended run as a forward this year, played injured some of the year and didn't want to be in Brisbane. Terrible year for any forward as a lion when you are losing almost every game. He was open to being traded last year and this year he wants to be traded. If he's traded to freo (can't see it not happening) he is going to be much closer to the Clark of 09 or even better now he can kick for goal than the Clark of the last 2 years and there will be threads bumped of crazy vossy and how much we got ripped off in this trade.

We're in a rebuild and need as many high draft picks as possible, your club looks set to be in the finals for the next few years and needs players to take them to the top 4 and Clark is definitely one of them.

No doubt there will be. There will also be a lot of regular posters who will empathize with your situation of losing him for whatever it ends up being. We've had our fair share of being on the rough end of the pineapple when it comes to players wanting to go home. If we get a bargain, most of us will be smart enough to realise it was effectively out of Brisbane's hands.

If we give up our first 3 picks and he turns out to be an enormous tattooed spud, then I would expect the same old flogging in the Bay that we've had to endure for years.

Plays forward and kicks more goals than Pav(Iif you want to be smart) But he can play anywhere, Forward, Back, Ruck, Wing.

Shows how little you know about Pavlich and how much you over rate Clark. One good year from Clark does not make him a superstar of the comp who from what you have said can play anywhere. He isn't Goddard last time I checked.

And you took the bait. Haha I was replying to a smart arse comment made by one of you supporters (I was joking) I rate Pav very highly, I rate Mitch as an average player who has lots of potential but dose not live up to expectations.Last time I checked he wasn't Goddard either, But you do know Goddard is not the only person who can play almost everywhere.

I agree...although you could say the same thing about Zac Clarke as well. the fact is that supporters of each clubs watch and know their players better then anyone outside the team...getting into debates of a players quality and standing in the AFL can just be painful ;)

One thing for certain is that Ross lyon seems to rate M Clark extremely highly and much higher then what freo supporters appear to...that could spell bad news for the freo supporters expecting them to get clark for nothin

Anything involving your second round pick is basically nothing as previously mentioned, because chances are we wouldn't use it.

There has been no news in regards to Clark for a while now. And as a result, this topic is going nowhere. So how about we give it a rest for a while? No objections? Good. Don't worry, the thread will be reopened by trade week.

And Jack Gunston...you're next.
