Look i like the guy , But he has real big tickets on himself for a guy that really has not played 'CONSISTANTLY' at the required level
Would love to have him at richmond & to be honest its probably the place where he would be most suited and get to play 50% ruck & 50% Foward with both Griffiths & Riewoldt taking 1st & 2nd Defenders allowing Mitch to run free Rotating with Vickery.
But as i mentioned His asking price of 600k needs to get down to 450k
and i would think our 1st round pick 12-16 would be about right.

Thats why I honestly think a 1st rd pick and a player would be fair deal. Everyone knows that mitch clark still has un-used potential. Also the fact is this sub rule certianly increases his value. All this adds up to possitives for brisbane. The Pav and Mark Harvey have already come out and said they they would certianly chase Mitch Clark if he wanted to leave. Brisbane would certianly call their bluff if they acted as if they didn't want him.
Also watch Brisbanes rd3 game against Melbourne where he was close or was best on ground.

The problem is that if a team who wants to play Clark in the ruck gets him for one first round pick, they're getting a bargain. When he gets around the field rather than being anchored in the forward 50, he can dominate. If they want him to play forward, one first round pick could be argued to be in the ballpark (I'd say a first round + a second or third round, but obviously have some bias).

That game was played in heavy rain. Probably not the best benchmark.
I'm sure I've seen his manager quoted in the media saying Mitch doesn't want to play ruck. Perhaps that's just a ploy to further target Freo as his preferred destination, since they are probably in more need of a key forward than another ruck, but it probably rules other potentially interested clubs out (i.e. Tigers).
Doesn't make a lot of sense to me, to almost rule himself out as a ruckman, when arguably his best footy was the year he was thrown into ruck. It does also add to the line of thought that he's living in Mitch Clark world, where he can dictate which club he'll go to, which position he'll play, how much he'll be paid etc. This sums up the reason I'm not overly keen for the Tigers to chase him too hard. If he gets to Freo, I'd be wrapt for us to chase Z Clarke hard, even Griffin if he slips even further in their pecking order.

Clark was quoted this time last year as saying he was looking forward for a chance to play in his preferred position, i.e. up forward. That might be what you're thinking of. I can't recall his manager saying anything one way or another, nor anything in the context of these trade/contract discussions.
i think if mitch clark was not out of contract at the end of the year you could start asking for a 1st rounder and a player or mor eif you wanted but that fact that he is out of contract is a massive kick in the pants for brisbane. freo tried to get him last year remember but the lions wanted to much so we bailed. totally different story this year, brisbane dont really have a leg to stand on. i can really see clark going in the psd. the way i see it clark is in a win win situation,he either gets to go home to wa, if he is picked up by freo in the draft, or he is picked up by gws and paid a fortune for a long term contract. i would be happy about either if i was him. so i can really see brisbane getting screwed
His manager has definitely said he is not interested in going to GWS. He will NOT sign on with them. Not sure that this leaves the PSD as an option for Clark, or whether with the restrictions on taking uncontracted players, the rules for the PSD are slightly different for GWS (i.e. normally you name your price, and the club with the earliest pick who is prepared to pay the $ gets you).

1. Fremantle WILL NOT get Mitch Clark through the PSD.
2. If Clark goes to GWS then the Lions will be given a compo pick, probably band 2, which could be a top 5 pick in next years super-draft, depending on how the Lions go next year.
3. The only way the Lions will get screwed is if Clark goes in the PSD and gets picked up by Port (which he definitely would be). I think it is safe to say that Clark will not want that to happen so he will not nominate for the PSD.
4. If Freo want Clark, they will have to trade and they will have to make a decent offer.

No he is simply stating you won't get Zac, which you will not.
This does not mean Freo will not make an offer that is insulting ... to a large degree Freo will need to see what they get in return for Rhys and Griffin.
While a set of steak knives in the form of a Michael Johnson may not have BF currency - if MC leaves then Brisb forward line in a couple of seasons time will be screwed.
This is a long race, GWS will be influential even if not directly involved.

If you read any of my other posts you will see that my opinion is to NOT go for Mitch and actually keep and further develop Zac. I was only answering point 4 in the previous post that I highly doubt that Freo will put Zac on the deal table.

yeah Michael Johnson is a interesting one...not many on BF rate him and/or give him much trade value. But with off-field issues hopefully in the past he could be set for a big couple of seasons once he gets a fit team around him
Personally I like the MJ trade idea...but I suspect a draft pick sweetener would be required aswell from Freo...2nd rounder most likely

Freo fans are in fairy land if they think we would trade Michael Johnson for mitch clark. They aren't even in the same ball park. Start off with age to begin with. He will be 28 next year! mitch...25. Clark most would agree he should have been 2nd ruckman in All Australian team 2009. Johnson has never ever reached that short of form. Again why would Brisbane bottom 4 team trade such a skillful and flexable player like Clark for Johnson? Horrible idea.

I think the phrase 'in patches' pretty much sums it up - why ? The two years where he could have really consolidated, he slid back and has now been lumped in the Brennan / Headland basket. Injuries ? Attitude ? Staker has shown more consistancy, which says something. Look at Ryder - got it together and has played both key back, key forward and on ball. Is Clark capable of that ? Hardened ex-AFLers just shake their heads at some of his efforts ( or lack thereof ) - just not professional. Very disappointing esp. when you see Rocky boring in, busting his guts and Black seriously preparing for every game. I just don't see the passion .. and I respond accordingly.

Patches in a kid 20-21 are acceptable but a 24-25 year old are expected to be consistent performers.

Maynes and Clarks goal outputs have been pretty much the same this year. Plus Mayne tackles about 3 times as much. I have a bad feeling Freo are gonna make a mistake in trying to trade for Mitch. He's a ruckman not a forward and we need a Key Forward. He's worth a first round draft pick and thats it but I wouldn't part with ours to get him because he is not what we need.

Sure he is a better ruckman then he is a key forward but he is ready made and a pretty bloody good forward anyway. Would kick 40+ as the main target in your team easily.
Just having a bloke over 190cms in your forward line would be fantastic for Fremantle. Youd be crazy not to take him.
I have to disagree with your logic on the points above. Sure, the Lions are bottom 3, but they've been pretty close in a lot of those losses, and IMO been a lot more competitive than their 4 wins would indicate.
You seem to be arguing that bottom 3 side = low scoring potential, and by moving to another bottom 8 side a few spots up the ladder his scoring potential increases. Yet the Lions have actually scored more points this season than Freo... and that's with Brown missing most of the season, leaving Clark as one of the key scoring avenues. There should be plenty of opportunity for Clarke to be scoring goals at the Lions, and it would be foolish to assume he'd double his scoring output by moving to a side like Freo.
