Ah so someone's reported it...Jonathan hasn't actually said it...Got ya.

Regardless, he's contracted, so will only be going if we allow it

mate, Griffin is hardly the type of player reporters would waste their time making stuff up as really not many people would care or even remember who he is! He has obviously started looking for...the old where there is smoke their is fire...especially for fringe players as media only speculate for stars

here is another link (read the end of the story)

I was just listing the talls over 190cm that you said we didnt have. Clark is an average forward (imo) - no different to Johnson/Keplar (Johnson at least points :p). Keplar in the first half of the year was actually going very well (until injuries killed his form).

Mitch had a near AA year the year he was playing in the ruck but there is no way he will be the #1 ruck at Freo with Sandi still around. I personally think Zac will be a better option in the ruck in years to come (when Sandi reties). That's not even considering Griff who has shown this year he can play the #1 ruck role (rumours are he is looking for more opportunities elsewhere)

I believe Mayne would not be available for trade. He is very important to our frontal pressure and should be used as a 3rd tall forward not the main target as he has had to this year because of our injuries.

well have fun with him next season...if reports are right that:
1) Clark will offically request a Freo trade
and
2) That freo will offer him a 500k year salary

Then if freo are willing to pay him that sort of cash then they are obviously very very keen and will get the deal done.

looks like it is harveys turn to try and "trade for a premiership"

If you can believe the rumours then it does seem like he is making the trip West. I have my opinion but the club has theirs and theirs is the one that counts in the end :)

If we do get Clark then I hope we go for 1 - 2 KPF's in the draft. Maybe utilise Clark as a forward and Zac as backup ruck until Sandi retires then have them as the 2 rucks and hopefully the KPF we pick up will have had enough time to develop

Bit of a difference between Mitch Clark and Andrew Raines, Amon Buchanan, Brent Staker and Xavier Clarke. One of them has actually played decent football in their career.

Anyway, I don't think any Fremantle fan would seriously object to us trading for Mitch Clark. The issue is just that they don't want to sell the house for him - even suggesting guys like Mayne or Zac Clarke is mind boggling considering they are contracted and so important to our structure. And before Brisbane fans get all worked up, I'm not suggesting we will get him for nothing. I'd say he is worth a draft pick around the 20 range, so the Palmer compo pick would probably be the one.

Also, a Clark trade would not affect Zac Clarke or Griffin at all. Mitch wants to play as a forward, not as a ruck. And Zac is a better ruckman anyway. Griffin is a separate issue all together.

That's a big part of why I have been against getting him in. $500k would put him in the top paid players in our team. He would need to show his worth pretty quickly on that kind of money - especially in the goldfish bowl that is Perth. I wonder how he goes under pressure cos he would be under a significant amount here in Perth (for either club).

I think we will get only 1 or either Mitch or a chance in the 16yo draft (O'Meara etc). If rumours I have heard about offers for O'Meara are true then we are no chance of competing to get the 1st pick (and O'Meara), so getting Mitch is the next best option seeing as the club has already ruled out going for Fev.

Raines is an average player, and X never got a run at it. I think Buchanan and in particular Staker are pretty decent AFL players. And the fact is, the Lions got all 4 (plus pick 39) for a combined total of picks 28, 44 and 60. I think the service they've got out of Staker alone is almost worth that price.

The Lions' problem was the huge punt (pardon the pun) they took to get Fev. In the end it backfired in more ways than one but there was no question on footy ability alone, Fev was an elite talent with a few years left in him.

And Zac is a better ruckman anyway. Griffin is a separate issue all together.
As a Tigers supporter who would love Zac at Richmond, I still have to call you on that. Mitch was unlucky not to be in the AA squad the year he pretty much had to shoulder the Lions ruck work for the year. Zac has shown he has a lot of potential, but it's a little one eyed and ignorant of the facts to say point blank Zac is a better ruckman.

Not one eyed or ignorant at all. There are very few young rucks I would take over Zac Clarke, given his athletic ability. And Mitch Clark isn't one of them.
I'd take Zac over Mitch too, but Zac hasn't had a year yet where he's been touted as an AA quality ruck... that's why I have an issue with the "Zac is a better ruck" comment.

Indeed. Buchanan was robbed for the Norm Smith in 2005.

well considering Freo tried last season to trade for clark, and now with all the continued reports coming out and Freo openly stating they are going to be very active in trade week you would have to take notice of rumours.

Usually the current supporters are the ones that are last to convince...but even Lions supporters know he is gone. Interesting is seeing Freo supporters talk down his talent and worth to the team when not long from know their club will trade for him...Bank it! :)

dont worry...Mitch only cares about Mitch and wont be happy playing ruck. he wants to glory of kicking goals...have fun watching him :)

Poor childish post mate! Has nothing to do with clark and his role in the team...If Fev was still playing for us and Clark couldnt get a game then Yes, but way off the mark.

Very troll like mate

I didn't read his post as troll like at all. I agree with what he said. Its an honest summary of our trade for Fev.

I agree Freo want & need him, a deal will be done.

umm pointless to any sort of Clark trade talk...no relevance at all...seriously!!!! Trying to dig up yesterdays news in a irrelevant manner is pure trolling! Period! ;)

He was replying to someone who mentioned the players we traded for in 09...
If that's trolling then every post that goes off topic is trolling.

There seems to be a fair bit of discussion on the Freo board regarding what the value of Clark is and some are comparing him in value and future performance to Freo's very own Keplar Bradley.

I was just wondering what the general bigfooty public things of these gentlemen and what their club would give up for either and how their values compare.

Surely they jest when they think Kepler Bradley is as talented as Clark. Similar types of players I guess but Clark wants to be a kpf not a ruck.

The comparsion is only based on current output and the fact the the price that the Lions are putting on Mitch and the price he is putting on himself is way over the top.

I think most lions fans think his asking price is over the top. We would be mad not to put a high price on him he is potentially a game breaker.

I like to think West Coast will put their first rounder on the table so that Fremantle can't lure Clark into the PSD.
To that I would say, he's all yours. At which point you'd be stuck with another tall forward/ruckman but this one's flogging 600K a year to play half his season in the WAFL. :thumbsu:

We need a KPF, not a ruck and he ain't gonna give us anything forward we don't already have, certainly not worth the money.

24 years old still talking about potentially breaking games but still yet to do it.

But has no trouble demanding to go to his preffered club
Demanding $600k per year
Demanding to play in the position he wants

Sounds like this princess is worth more trouble than what he is worth, Brisbane will do well to be rid of him.

I was a huge mitch fan & really wanted the tigers to go after him , but the more i seen of him & read about him this year has been very off putting.
