Clark could be a Docker as he allegedly has told the Lions he wants out

http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sport/a/-/afl/10231975/dockers-closer-to-securing-clark/

Imagine how embarrassing it must be if you were to find out that your lack of cognition on the part of this thread was exposed by posting a link that had already been posted and discussed on this very thread? Close miss there...

Given Harvey's reported comments about Clark being the missing piece for a premiership, being willing to offer him a generous four year contract (though I suspect Clark has come down from the $600k figure) and, according SNF, he is willing to "bid heavily" for him... how does that correspond to Freo fans insisting "they" aren't that keen? Sounds like your club is, even if you aren't.

Show me the quote of where Harvey actually said that Clark is the missing piece.....

That's why I said "reported comments". It has been reported that that was what he said. The actual quote was not, presumably, made to a journalist so hasn't been included verbatim.

I am reading those things and seeing Clark free in the PSD. No-one else thinks he is worth that money, so come on down. Why the hell would we put up a big bid for someone the Lions clearly don't see as worth a decent trade for?

2nd or 3rd rounder + Duf, or 3rd rounder + MJ.

umm because the lions have matched that offer

I love all the negativity from freo supporters questioning clarks talent & ability, his salary cap space worth (not worth 500k!!!), the lack of need for him at freo, and most importantly the low trade value they allege him to be!

seriously guys, you guys will trade for him and it will cost your team a 1st round pick minimum!!! Just leave the arguing for what extra you may need to give up!

Brisbane have a psd pick before the dockers. I would almost guarantee we pick him up if he ends there. That's if port or gold coast don't first. So you can forget that option. I can see it playing out like Ryan O'keefe 2 years ago trying to get to Carlton.

It is this post I am referring to, so take it up with the original poster balony;

So is he worth it or not?

not worth it...but the lions have a lack of talent and a heap of cap space in the coming years, so they can and have matched any offer from freo. Personally I will be happy that we can get a good trade from freo and avoid paying overs for a player

I understand that all clubs bar Freo have baulked at clarks asking price...the fact is that Freo are set to pay overs for clark in a attempt to win a premiership...sounds like a "crazy voss" concept doesn't it?

You must be one very well connected individual. May be no other club wanted to pay anything near the numbers been thrown around on BF because he stated he wants to play in wa and did not want to risk trading for guy who does not want to be at their club? I recon a first round pick is about right but Bond has stated that the deal would need to work for the club. We are also hunting o'mera.

Won't happen.
Since the new regime, we've paid well less than what clubs have wanted for players that have come here:see McPhee and Anthony.
He wants to come here. West coast dont want him.
He's coming on our terms. It's not like we're going to lose players the other way to Brisbane with a go home factor.

He's not Jonathan Brown and he's not contracted, so we pay what he's worth to us, not Brisbane: no more than a second rounder.

What's to stop Gold coast picking him up with pick one in the psd? If you want him you'll have to pit a reasonable trade. Your first rounder will be the absolute minimum.

or you must be living under a rock...The whole clark trade has been well played in the media through clark's manager, and other clubs list managers...keep up mate ;)

mate, I think they are a bit thick over there is the west...it is pretty obvious to everyone bar freo supporters that a 1st round pick is minimum! the discussion should be what extra freo may need to include.

This thread is starting to remind me of the Rich to eagles threads... it is going to be pointless discussions!

What's to stop anyone doing anything? He wants to come home. His parents have sold up and come back. The Gold Coast is not going to pick up a player who is 23 and wants to live on the other side of the country.

Nick Stevens is the only player really who hasn't got to where he wanted. You'll notice that Carlton and Collingwood are in the same city.

A bit of good music to give some posters a bit of perspective.

There's no point getting fired up about all this shit. What happens is going to happen. You have to remember 90% of posters on bigfooty know **** all and will post unreasonable trades.

yep, and all these Freo supporters who are coimg out saying he is a average player and not worth trading for will be singing his praises next season.

Just how BF roles these days...I wish we had a age limit

First round pick is plenty.

I thought if Freo had wins go their way and they ended up with pick 12 it would have been...dropping to pick 16 just puts that bit of doubt that it may not be enough...remembering that Players like TJ & brock did cost pick 12 or so, I would think that Clark would have more currency?

In comparison yes, however both of those were monumental stuff ups.

pick 15-16 which is what Freo will roughly have IMO is fair compo. Perhaps a fringe player that Brisbane may be interested in to sweeten the deal too but not a "quality youngster" like it is reported they are seeking i.e. Zac Clarke.

Don't get me wrong, Brisbane should play hard ball and try and extract as much as they can but at the end of the day, if push came to shove, I think they would accept Freo's first rounder and do the deal.

A age limit?

Could be a case of hypocrisy personified here.

We have 3 1st choice ruckmen already, we have at least 3 leading forwards already in our 22. The thing is freo supporters don't want to pay overs for something they have in abundance already. That's what it comes down to.

umm, I would have thought it comes down to the "freo club" targeting clark, not the list management beliefs of BF posters (which I would argue with)?
keep up ;)
