Oh no, I wasn't stressing with anything you said, I just wanted to make it absolutely clear that I was not over-boosting him and saying he is going to be as good as JC, people can very easily misinterpret things when you compare just some aspects of players, particularly if they're just looking for a blue.
True- and then they will remember exactly what you said, go and search for it, drag it out and repost it out of context in 5 years time and tell you what you meant and that you are WRONG!!!

Funny- there are people here who must be taking notes of everything we all say- either that or they have amazing memories!

EDIT- uh oh, now Hoffy's going to have his comment dragged up down the track, too!

Definitely fair payback if it happens to Hoffy! ;)

Sorry Hoffy95 , in all fairness, should have tagged you on this.

That's it, mate, always include the disclaimer. In the old days I used to have one on a rubber stamp. ;)

i like him best when he shows that hard edge you get glimpses of in some games, shows hes got a taste for it. I think thats when hes at his best
Fifth for contested marks at Geelong this year, behind the full forward, centre half back, ruckman, and floating defender.

Having a very good year is Duncan.
Like many have stated, he's more of a slow burner when it comes to development, not like say Motlop who went from fringe to star within half a season.
Duncan started off a solid player and got 10% better each yeah since.
I think is right on the edge of A-grade material, he definitely can produce A-grade quality now, it's just a question of consistency which is the next stage of his development.
Has the tools to be a Champion, I've said it elsewhere so won't bother repeating it but I'd be surprised if he doesn't finish his career as a 250-300 game club Champion talked about in the same breath as Bartel, Corey, Ling, Selwood etc

One of our very best atm, is there improvement?....gee! how good do we think he can be?:thumbsu:

Duncan is a very good player now , but the next level is when he really chops up a team. If he keeps pressing for improvement , then it will come.
At the moment he is typical of what we build our flag on players that were very proficient highly skilled , smart players , players good over head , players with good skill by foot and can nail a good goal. Thing is Duncan do all of them

He did it this year to Collingwood, but it was overshadowed by Selwood's exceptional game.

He's done it a few times in recent years, I think it's just that he goes about it without much fan fare. Like those I mentioned above, he just "gets the job done", be it as a defensively minded half back or a marking floating half forward, he just does what is necessary.
Is averaging over 21 touches a game and really hasn't had 1 "bad" game all year.

I know this is a bit of a smoke blowing up the date kind of article but it sums up Mitch pretty well I reckon.

I thought he was pretty eye-catching in the pre-season games and expected more of the same this season. I couldn't help but be a little disappointed at first, when it didn't happen, but then realised that I was looking for the wrong thing. He's more of a steady, steady player with the occasional flash, than the flashy player who doesn't do anything in between the flashes... if that makes sense? I'm very happy with his improvement and perhaps the less-flashy play is happening because he's become more of a team player, which flows on from his leadership role and how he tries to bring younger players into the game.
Yeah it makes sense.

I think that is what was missing at the start of the year (after preseason). That steadiness. I am only beginning to see that now (thankfully!). He has set himself up for a good second half of the season.

I think he gets unfairly judged compared to others. If he has even a modest game it's highlighted but plenty of others perform far worse more often without anywhere near as much criticism.
Perhaps.

I reckon it has to do more with him telling all of us that he was going to have a big year ... and when those first few games came around ... he was not performing as we expected (by what he and the media were pumping out). Only now is he getting into gear and showing what he is really capable of.

Before last season (not this) he said he'd like to (not would) have a season like Beams (?) had just had. He didn't "tell" anyone he was going to have a big year. This was all cleared up on here 12 months ago.

Couldn't help sense Brad Hartman's frenetic spread at times reminding me of Mitch, I see similarities between the two, Hartman doesn't mind a bit of inside like Mitch, and loves to take off with the ball carrier and spread.
He's definitely got duel abilities evident with the cut over his left eye, imagine having the equivalent of two Mitch Duncan's running around and to think he's only 19.
Another thing is his size, he's certainly put some on since last year.

I'm a fan but that stat for contested marks surprises me.

Nice work.

Walked the talk as far as Leadership goes with the new draftees - worked his arse off and did extra sessions with the newbies in the preseason.
Was instrumental in them feeling welcome at the Club. :thumbsu:

How good has this bloke become!

Not so much the number of possessions but it's been his gut running and second half work which has been a huge factor in helping us win a few close games.
Quite underrated as well because while they carry on about the 'veterans getting us over the line', some of Duncan's last quarters have been Bartel-like. . . kicking goals, taking timely marks and setting up plenty of goals.

(Guthrie is another who has taken it upon himself to lift in close matches this year)

Definitely raised his game a peg or two this year.
Seriously not enough praise for this bloke. He has become a gun. Yeah he got run down by Bob Murphy on the weekend but he's such a good gut runner and goal kicker that I don't mind him taking those sorts of risks. I don't get to many games so i'm not sure what he is like defensively but from what i've seen on the TV he's fantastic
