Love Mitchy.
But like most demon supporters will say, he'll play one good quarter where he'll get 6 touches for a quarter and a goal and then we'll be lucky to then touch the ball for the next 3 quarters.

Just goes missing far too often.

Sounds like Bailey Dale.

Does he apply good forward pressure??

Charlie Spargo can’t kick over a jam tin, is short and not exceptionally quick.

Hannan is the opposite of that, yet Spargo was in the team more in the second half of the year and defensive pressure is a big part of that.

Hannan isn’t hopeless defensively, more inconsistent.

When he arrived at Melbourne I thought he was a high flyer, with most of his Footscay VFL highlights being speccies over hapless defenders! But he's mostly a crumber that flashes in and out of games. Can tackle but doesn't do it enough. Is a neat kick but doesn't get it enough. Can kick goals but in recent times hasn't done that enough either! With that said most Melbourne supporters have a soft spot for him for kicking the sealer against Geelong in 2018.

Won me a tidy amount when he kicked the first and 1, 2 and 3 total goals against the Eagles back in 2018. So have always had a soft spot for him and watch him closely. Feel like he's going to be better than most players available in the third round so a third rounder isn't the worst deal but being out of contract and out of favour pushes that down to a 4th rounder.

Agree with some suggestions around 2021 picks

That's not a great trade. He really shouldn't have had any currency.
odds are you won't get a guy as good as him in the third round anyway

So that seems like a fair deal

Jeez people overrate draft picks. Assuming Dogs are around the finals in 2021, it equates to around pick 50 in real terms. Hannan is a talented player who's averaged a goal a game as a half forward. Downside is that he doesn't get enough of the ball. Trade value is spot on.

Melbourne have a stack of players similar to Hannan who play a half forward role, but none of them are exceptional. Neal Bullen and Vandenburg may also get traded. Next year we'll start rotating our inside mids (Petracca, Brayshaw, Harmes and Viney) through half forward, instead of playing NQR permanent half forwards.
