Mitch isn't necessarily washed up - but it is likely.

Unless he is moving the ball regularly off the straight - he's too expensive to have in the side.

We are blessed with a battery of fat bowlers who could all quite feasibly perform at test level

Bird, Faulkner, Starc, Hazelwood, Coulter-Nile, Cutting are all coming through strongly.

You can at least be assured if Mitch does get back - it willl be on the back of wickets and not reputation or desparation.

Three cheap wickets at the end of the south Australia innings today should put him right back in contention...

No - there are much better candidates at this stage.

I believe that Mitch Johnson's time has passed.

It was OK overall, but it could have been so much more.

A shame.

Logically you would think that but I don't think the selectors see it that way. I'd say in their eyes, Johnson is already ahead of Bird, Faulkner, NCN and Cutting. I hope that is not the way they see it but from the way Arthur has been talking, I fear it is.

I don't think Arthur would slag Johnson off in public though. What we hear is different to what goes on behind the scenes.

Agree with everything except the last sentence. Selectors have had a habit of picking despite form, not because of it.
If he can string together matches where he bowls well, like anybody else he should be considered. But as far as I'm cncerned he needs to be regarded as though he was starting out and prove himself over time before becoming a real contender. Too often he has produced one lethal spell, followed by 18 months of destroying his own team.

How about under the new selection panel?

They have been much better, but from memory still picked him for no apparent reason early in their reign. (My memory is not always - or ever - reliable, it must be said.)

I'm quite certain that their first series was either our tour of South Africa or the series against New Zealand.

I had to laugh at the reporter when I seen the score card... How about you get the top 6 out with the new pill. People are saying we need a wicket taker? He is currently not the answer

In fairness, I don't mind him as the third or fourth fast bowler, but with Pattinson out and Siddle tired, I'm not all that confident. That said, it is Perth and it is against South Africa. Maybe the perfect combination for him.

Im a huge critic of Johnson but at this point does it matter?

All the talent we have at our disposal i was shocked some people were still talking about johnson at the start of the summer but the vast majority of that bowling talent is injured or buggered so i guess it doesn't matter.

pretty comfortable picking him at the waca. it'll be saying **** off we're at Hobart now that will be the problem.
But what about in form bowlers? If I was Jackson Bird I'd be close to giving up knowing that taking 80+ wickets in less than 20 shield games doesn't even get you a look in over Hazelwood and Johnson who have done **** all this year.
