We have more KPF than we need
Fawcett , Lynch , Armstrong , Faull , Lefau , Gray all 195cm plus
Carlton are more in need but the comparison i made to allan and even Daniher is a good comparison before they went to their new clubs. Still could have 4-5 years and 2 years younger than Curnow and 1 year younger than Harry
No. Just no.
Daniher kicked 65 goals in 2017. At age 23.

Lewis best ever season is 37 goals.

This is a big gap.

Everyone knew Daniher had freakish talent.

And daniher got more than the money we are talking about now and that was pre inflation
But an injury riddled Allen is getting $1 mil a year now not to mention what the bombers are paying players like ben mackay. He will have suiters on good $$$

You make a good point..Allan managed a season where he kicked 53 and he's younger.
We will see I guess.
But you are right in that clubs will take big risks on tall KP players.

Can you provide any proof Allen is on $1m a year?

All the intel on our board is that he’s on something under $900k (and that Draper is on $50k less, and that was mentioned by Cal Twomey on one of the footy panel shows when Hird was having a crack).

Whats the difference 900k or 1 mil

Considering it activated the band 1 on last years salary cap increases its in that ball park
and even the reporters would be guessing.

I highly doubt the $850k would have got a band 1 in 2025 when the salary cap went up to nearly $18 mil
Draper number looks about correct though
Formula is only one part. The AFL has a committee that can review and adjust compensation in special circumstances. It would not surprise me AFL did just that because of Eagles situation.

Let’s not kid ourselves, the AFL was always going to give it band one regardless of price. The compensation picks are a way that the AFL can manipulate in helping teams without appearing to be helping them teams.

Cases in point, when the Suns first started in 2010, Geelong received 2 first round draft picks. Being picks 15 and 19, after Geelong won the premiership in 2009. Ablett was rumoured to be on a 10m 5 year deal with the Suns.

In 2013 the hawks received only pick 19 for losing Buddy Franklin to the Swans. Franklin signed a 10m contract for 9 years.
Daisy Thomas left Collingwood for Carlton for pick 11, on a rumoured deal of 4 years at 700k per year.

When GAJ had used up all his high paying wage years at GC in 2016 and was going to get significantly less money, he decided to go back to Geelong. He was then traded back to Geelong for picks 19 and a F2nd. Pick 19 was compensation for losing Motlop to Port on a rumoured 4 year deal at 500k per year. Port Adelaide also secured Tom Rockcliffe from Brisbane that year on a rumoured deal of 4 years at 700k PA. Brisbane received pick 18.

So when the AFL wants to help out its favourites, the AFL will do everything it can to help them out, with their secret herbs and spices rules.

Why? With superstar Chol down there - is there room?
Gunston won't be around forever.

Also, if this was a p*sstake, 'superstar Chol' would be a walk-up starter in Norf's forward line.

Like that means anything. So would 60 year old Derm - Chol is a spud.

If he were on the open market, what would he attract Pick 15-25? Hardly a superstar.

As if you’re still calling a 40 goal forward a spud haha. Apparently from Larkley’s 2023 season he’s the most he’s kicked is 46 and at least chol actually applies pressure!

Haha

Keep telling yourself he's good.

Larkey had a down year, 41 is a really poor year from him.

So your boy is a chance. I'm not Larkey's biggest fan, but put him at FF for you blokes and he'd kick 80 and you'd probably win the flag.

Put Chol at CHF at the joeys and we'd likely be in the same spot. Larkey is a #3 forward having to play #1.

Larkey also has 2 years on your bloke haha as if he's 29 lol

Chol is no Larkey but he is certainly a few rungs above Callum Coleman-Jones

Agreed, but CCJ is a break glass in case of injury/emergency. He'll only play if there are injuries to Xerri and Goad.

Sometimes I feel these Hawthorn supporters aren't in touch with reality. They can't win the flag because of lack of A Grade stars in the midfield and they just lost one they do have for half the year.

It's a bit of shame for them, not so much when they act like they're the only ones who deal with injuries... whilst I admit ours aren't household names just yet, they are in positions which would change the narrative around us - hence my absolute disdain.

Our backline for instance, is a work in progress and the weakest 3rd of the ground for us. A real achilles heal, but, that is when we're running around without our future backline. You need to include Archer, Goater, a fit Logue and WDawson into calculations. Once they are, who knows?

We'll mark them harshly if they're are all fit and playing and we're still shit.. of course, but until such time as they are and we're forced to keep playing incumbents- we'll be no good back there.

I know this isn't the Mabior Chol thread but how much more can you ask from a guy rotating in the ruck then back to back (almost) 40 goal seasons, and excellent defensive pressure with almost three tackles a game.

It's been a great return for the minimal investment.

Isn't Logue the bloke that Jezza kicked almost a dozen on?

Yet you want to lecture others about 'spuds.'

Gerrymandering FC. Jesus.

He had an ACL, that sort of thing is semi-expected when you have a bunch of kids upfield putting pressure on their midfield. Get with the program son, the past is the past. I'm sure your superstars would go well at Gerrymandering Stadium, if you ever had to play there.

Marvel? The ground which you are a primary tenant?
