Should really be aiming for three tests this summer. Will get two IMO but that just shows how good a position we are in with our quicks. Looking forward to seeing him at Perth especially.

Really enjoy watching him bowl. Shows alot of heart hope he can make a name for himself.

Wasn't convinced by him at the start but big fan now.

Swings it consistently; very dangerous.
Yeah, he's a dead-set test bolter. In T20s, people can't handle his consistent swing - he's Nathan Braken with about ten yards of extra pace.

When he first emerged he was one of those blokes with immense but raw talent, scattergun arm etc, and every time we've had one of these types come through in recent years they've burnt out or just never put it together. He looks like he's actually coming. He could be ******* fearsome.

Theres something about his action that I just love, it's just so fluent.

He's a force to be reckoned with in the one day formats. We haven't seen what he is going to be like on dustbowls just yet, so will have reservations until then, but aside from that (which isn't really his fault - he can't choose when/where the selectors pick him) I reckon he's looked the goods in his time as an international cricketer.

Just hope he doesn't end up another one of those ones who swings the white ball at will and then can't repeat that in tests.

But if we are taking a gamble on a leftie at least it's the kid with tons of promise and not the 30 year old sook.

To go with 2/18 from the Haze!

This crop of quicks is one of the strongest we've had. Maybe even the strongest. Calling it. Some combination or another of them will be utterly elite.

The early 1970's had a pretty good crop in Lillee, Walker, Thomson and Massie, although this batch has probably got them covered in pure depth with Starc, Pattinson, Hazlewood, Cummins, NCN and Cutting.

And Mcdermott also

Still reckon Hazlewood will be the best of the lot (although Pattinson is also an awesome bowler). I reckon he'll have a very solid summer for the Blues (which would be helped if Starc and Cummins are around the Aussie teams), low economy rate, bowl well, maybe not a massive amount of wickets but really build before a huge summer next year.

Would be nice if Smiths legspin could develop to the point where he coul average 30-35 in tests and we could just play four quicks in the future.

It'll never get to that point. He'll be like White; bowl less and less until it becomes a non-entity.

We won't have a star spinner for years. We all need to take a BigFooty Cricket Board pledge. We all breed, have boys, and raise them as spinners. One of us will score a winner.

After the way he bowled last summer(actually in tests not 4 overs of 20/20) i would pick patto over starc at the start of the summer.

Well, da doi. Pattinson is right up there with first picked and Starc is still a fringe Test player.

If he gets his chance I reckon he'll take it, though. :thumbsu:

How to fit him in?
Cummins, Pattinson and Siddle should be the starting 3 pacemen. Starc gets a jersey if one of those are injured OR we play 4 pacemen. (which is quite likely given the brittleness of cummins and pattinson)

how about the reason that starc is a lefty and adds variety?
So who do you drop out of siddle, cummins, pattinson and Hilfy if they are all fit?

Starc is the 5th bowler.

He's had some luck as we've copped a few injuries over the past few months, but if all fit he's not in the picture.

You don't need to drop anyone. You rotate all five over the summer.
