Why does Starc have a mortgage on one of the fast bowling spots? All we keep hearing is the depth of fast bowlers in this country is huge, well let's use it!!! Our strike bowler is clearly out of form and confidence. At 28 yrs old and with 200 wickets he shouldn't need a Shane Warne tweet to rev him up to perform.

3 series loses, including a home series he didn't perform in and now a lack of wickets in a game that was an innings defeat to SL. That is 12 months of not performing. Time for him go back to domestic red ball cricket. We can't carry pedestrians in our test side.

If this form continues to the 1st test in England. Make the change.

I don't mind if he gets dropped, loses the new ball gets a rocket from Tim Paine or has to do extra nets. Whatever it takes to get him back to his best. I just hope that when it does happen, and it will, people here don't start saying I told you so and that they backed him the whole time. Jesus Christ a sportsman loses form for a few months let's all stress about it and make it a huge deal. Cos no athlete has ever had form issues before they are always at their best all the time. Dead set

A `few` months?

Also your point is bizarre. The comments are made being made because people believe if a player has form issues they should work at it at a lower level, not at the top level. Instead `dead set` people would rather just let out of form players fail repeatedly for months until they randomly find form again. We don't need players finding form only after mean tweets.

Blokes come in and out of form but Starc just doesn’t look imposing at the moment. Radar off, not threatening or intimidating. Not owning the no.1 mantle. Time for a rest next test and get some things ironed out before ashes.

Do you think he is better than Boland?
Yes. Boland is having a great season but Trem has been the best bowler for the duration of the past 3 Shield seasons

I reckon Tremain bowls a bit full, might get owned at test level
I disagree, he bowls a fuller length than most of the current Aussie side but that provides a POD, plus he swings the ball into the right hander

Resting him from the ODIs against India was a huge blue I think. ODI cricket has always been his best form of the game, it would've been a great opportunity to try and get his confidence up.

Given how well Richardson bowled this week, Starc can no longer be a walk-up start when Hazelwood comes back in.

Please play Tremain next test. Just to give him a look. Even if Manuka is a road

Gosh I loathe this "give him a go" shit that constantly pops up on this board. I think I get what you're mean, cos you're right - Tremain's numbers have been really good - but when our team is at it's best there no "give him a look/give him a go" stuff, you've gotta bang down the door. If our team didn't suck at the moment I'm not sure we'd be talking about Tremain.

I'm still not convinced the timing is ever going to be right for him in any case. With what looks to be a pretty reliable top 4 quicks going to England, I have this sneaking suspicion that, assuming a decent end to the Shield season, Riley Meredith is going to be in England as the "squad bowler." He's just got everything our selectors get hard over at the moment, not the least his consistent pace of 145-150km/hr and his ability to get steep bounce.

He'll be back. He's a champion. India were far too good for us and the other bowlers are destroying Sri Lanka. The wheel always turns. One bloke in the team usually goes through this. Just happens to be him at the mo. If we're losing it always looks worse. He'll start doing what he did for half a decade beforehand soon. I hope you'll have the dignity to not join the bandwagon of "I never doubted him" bullshit that will accompany his upswing

He's not a champion in Tests. Averages nearly 30 and his only really memorable Test series was against a weak Sri Lankan batting unit. After that series great things were expected and he's shown glimpses but now we're at a point where even Siddle would be a better option.

I think he deserves to be dropped, not just for a one Test rest or anything like that but either until he shows his best again in ODIs or does really well in the back end of the Shield.

Arguably the best.

I actually think Behrendorff should be close to next in-line.

His FC record is arguably better than Tremains, also swings it and provides the left arm option to replace Starc.

And also hasn't played a four day match in 14 months

Yep, realize that, but he’s back playing list A and ODI cricket.

The last 5 shield games are going to be very interesting.

I rate him, don't get me wrong, but he needs the body of work behind him which I don't think he'll get due to ODI duties

Probably depends if he’s apart of the World Cup squad.

Props to CA for once, the Australia A tour in England running at the same time as the World Cup is awesome.

Going to be great for the likes of Richardson, Behrendorff, Tremain, Boland, Patterson, Pucovski, Burns, Renshaw etc to really hit some form and stake a claim.

Langer said in an interview today the Ashes squad is going to be picked very late, most likely not until 3/4 way through this A tour.

I wish he was, cos I rate him so highly. Unfortunately he's made of glass though. He's going to need 12 months of solid cricket before he comes into consideration for a test squad - and by then guys like Richardson, Meredith and Tremain are all going past him.

Yeah Dorf is getting no where near the test side unfortunately, its the same for Pattinson. Their bodies just dont hold up and given one couldnt get through the BBL and one through 3 ODI's, i cant see that changing any time soon

Starc is a confidence bowler more than most and if he gets some form in ODIs I think it would continue over to test cricket.

Which is why he should of played the ODIs v India recently.

ODIs are long enough that form from one form can carry over to the other. It’s worked both ways recently with Finch being as bad in ODIs as tests and Richardson doing well in the test after impressing in ODIs.

Obviously it doesn’t work for all cases, and many just aren’t suited to both forms, or some are just totally random (Shaun Marsh).

Bit precious about some fairly accurate observations regarding his lack of fire in the first test. I remember Starc not taking too kindly to Warne's criticisms of his bowling and body language a few years ago, which funnily enough resulted in him bowling with a bit of venom. Does the Starc household have an issue with criticism from the media and respected past players perhaps? Not sure how I would feel about my missus coming to my rescue and it ending up in the media..

Am I misunderstanding this? The way I read it is that she isn't coming to his defence, but giving her partner a bit of a ribbing!
