If anyone is still questioning his maturity, put him on the ground beside Mr Pavlova, after having his ear hairs "combed" by Lyons sanguine points. If those 2 chaps can't make you mature and be professional, I reckon nothing will.

Story going around that we will look at taking him with pick 37 as Carlton want to take him with pick 39...

Yet every they're players who are picked late that turn out good and players overlooked completely who prove everyone wrong later. Is it just me or do they say that the draft depth is going to be shallow almost every year, certainly feels like it.
Why, if you're after a tall mid at 17 - choose Marsh? I'd go with the clearly more highly touted Acres. He's as tall as the rest of our midfield and much more prominent.Have a look at thorps highlights - he doesn't play like a KP even though he is that size.
One thing we have an abundance of is tall flankers and mids - I'd pass on thorp due to this and prefer to gamble on a giles, Harvey or Conlon type to be a true KP.
If tall mid is what we seek them Marsh will be chosen at 17 ( on the proviso McCarthy not available ) and one of the younger KP projects like those named above at next pick
Aaahh I see now, I think I read the 2nd half of your post with more weight than necessary. I don't think anybody's seriously suggesting we take Thorpe with 17 anyway though. Was just an example - I'm not saying marsh over anyone else I'm saying anyone else over Thorp.
Think you missed my point
37 got us zac clarke from memory would rather see if carlton dont take him

... In the deepest draft since 2001.
All reports say this draft is 'hope for the best' after pick 30.

They say that every year. If I were a recruiter I would play the depth down too.

That will mean we have taken two top ten picked "key forwards" with picks #54 and #37.
sick of hereing its a shallow draft, 2008 and 2001 is all we here about, we have done well late in drafts so timewill tell our method is going ok atm we missed darling our bad 37 is a big pick dont get me wrong I want Thorp we have a good culture now
We're looking more and more like St Kilda and their flag tilt every off-season.
I'm not sure spending a second round pick on a 24 year old discard is really that smart. I mean, the Tassie state league? Clubs put up with people if they're ******s – some clubs even pay them 10 million dollars. Hawthorn isn't a stupid club and I can't really see the rise between his delisting and his possible pick-up being anything astronomical.
I'm not really sold on this at all. A second round pick should be spent on a young turk. Keep mature agers to the rookie draft.
Thorps ability is another fabrication of BF hype.I would be very surprised that any on here calling for his selection have seen him play.Pick him as a rookie and see what he has got before we shoot our selves in the foot and waste a valuable pick
I just think people are way too confident in Bond and co. Sure they've picked some really unfashionable footballers and they've come good, but they've made some pretty strange choices as well.
The club is seemingly just putting little fixes in the forward line. Anthony, Gumby, Thorp. Who's our great white full forward hope? Taberner? Well the gap between him being a 22-game player and Pav retiring is too much. I have hope and patience for these guys coming through and the ones we've drafted, but I just don't entirely buy it. I hope I'm wrong but I'm just not too optimistic.
