Yeah. He looked quite good in a very ordinary side playing forward at Werribee.

Obviously still very talented. If his body stands up and he keeps his attitude in check he'll be a good pick up.

That is a big if. He could hardly string 2 weeks together without having some type of injury. That has lead to his body being pretty beaten up.

This from a Carlton site. We're probably not the only team keeping an eye on him. Missed a few games in the middle there, but pretty consistent otherwise - well, if you judge a forward by their ability to regularly kick goals. Against that, only twice named in the best.

I'd be more than happy to rookie him.
Depending on how the the draft plays out we may be even tempted to use our last live pick on him considering how watered down this draft already is.
 
I'd be happy enough to pick him up in the National Draft with our last pick. We should be able to snare a couple of decent kids with our first 2 picks, so lets take a punt with the other two. The guys got talent, so the issue is whether or not his body will hold up for the 2 seasons. Certainly not against it if we go this way...
 
What about the off-field issues mentioned in the article? What was all that about?
 
Bailey was on SEN this morning and said he knew nothing about us going after Thorpe.
 
More interested by the fact we are looking at a number of lower league players, we'd be silly not to take a punt on a couple.
 
d33, the off-field stuff is as likely as not what saw him leave. By the end of it all, he had got himself fit (well, injury-free) for the first time since joining the club.

Sometimes, young men + money /= fun. Especially when there are outside influences that take advantage of them and their newfound wealth. By the time HFC found out some of the (more serious) issues, it was too late to fix them.

Exciting that we are looking at a number of players in the country. I'd love to see the Dees pick up atleast one potential gun tall that may have developed late, a younger J-POD would be awesome

I'm mates with a few Hawks players & they were stoked when he was chopped as they all hated him. Massive ego & trouble. I doubt he wouldve changed drastically in 12 months so big no for me.

This is kind of what I was getting at with the off-field stuff. I've heard similar stuff Demon86.

I doubt you would know if he changed or not after getting cut from Hawthorn while still contracted.

Things change and people change. maybe he has turned the corner as an individual maybe he hasn't. Look at Col Sylvia, he openly admitted he was a hot head and his team mates had to walk on egg shells around him. Everybody acts in certain ways for different reasons, hopefully he's worked through a few things and Is better for it.

Don't see where I catergorically ruled out him changing- clearly the word 'doubt' implies I was speculating. So relax. In any case most people don't have complete 180 degree changes in character- but there's always the odd exception.

Haha nah but hung out with Travis Tuck a bit if u catch my drift... The major issue though was attitude and him thinking he's an A grade superstar.
 
I love his sledge at the start of the game when Tom Harley lined up against him in the VFL during his final season..

"Im going to end your career today"

That sums him up for me - do not want.
