hmm people going on about him playing 9 games or so. the flip side to that of corse is hes a small is in his third yr and second club.
to me hes a keeper for one yr at least. he does have attributes that should enable him to develop into at least a solid afl player.
to me his weaknesses are 1/ pace unless he can find some real zip i cant see him playing on the riolis etc of the world. 2/ hes not a big possesion winner these two areas are concerning and should not be ignored.
yep give him 2011 that will be 4 yrs in the system a 2 yr settling in period with us and hopefully by the end of 2011 hes done enough to establish himself as a core list player at least.
being a small after 4yrs id be very concerned if hes where he is now.

Re: Mitch Farmer

I've got a question for those that say that Farmer isn't the answer to our small defender need. Who do the Cats have that is a quick small defender to play on the likes of Milne, Ballantyne, Davis and the like? I don't believe that they have anyone and yet they invariably manage to keep these guys quiet when they play them. Why is that the case?

the shortest in the cats line up this weekend (in the backline) is josh hunt at 185cm.....that is 5cm taller than farmer but i have never really watched hunt to do a comparison of them(5cm isn't much)

Yeah they do, you will notice Wojinski takes the small quick guys alot. Nevertheless Mitch is playing a good game today...

Re: Mitch Farmer

Farmer > happy_punter in their respective jobs. Farmer had another solid game, happy_punter's job of abusing people still very mediocre.

best game yet, worked for it in the first half, got a nice goal too. second half disappeared but still managed effortless posessions, still noticed him better than the port game. only 1 tackle.

73% eff 8 kicks 7 handballs 1 tackle

10 of those 15 posessions came in the first half, where did he go?

Wish we had the other 14 clowns' names along with yours happy_punter.

But you're still mediocre at best. Ya flog.

farmer will never be a premiership player and thats how we must look about development from now on with a solid nucleus of the squad forming.

that kick in the last quarter that went to a west coast player... was a 15 meter easies kick u will see.. sorry just not good enough.

would hate to give the one worded reply with "THIS" but this:thumbsu: he did something similar in the first quater too, but for him i thought he had a good game, for what you can expect from him. look out jimmy they going to abuse you for your opinion now!

He had a pretty good game today, as did everyone! Looked good when intercepting the ball but I still have doubts over his skill level and decision making. Again, doesn't have the best leg speed so still not sure about him.
I don't think he'll be in our best 22 in 2 years. If we are going anywhere as a club, he shouldn't be in our best 22 in 2 years!

was really good again on the weekend made 2 bad mistakes
attacks the ball really well kicks the ball really well
plays with confidence is hard at it and corageous
more games we get into him the better

Farmer and Nason for Schulz

ummm

DEAL!

Much rather mistakes that arise from players taking the game on and showing some initiative than mistakes that arise from players simply not knowing what the **** they're doing...that's the difference between blokes lik Farmer & Nason and blokes like Schulz....

ok so a stationary kick across the half back flank that only has to travel 15 meters but goes 30 is really 'taking on the game'

Yeah nearly cost us the game that one.....should really be delisted for that one error that you conveniently singled out in true Big Footy cherry picking fashion......:o

man you cant be serious. You are basing your assessment on ONE kick that was fluffed from a kid that has played 10 games? So you dont see more seasoned and for that matter top shelf players fluff ONE kick? FFS get with the program. Some fools need to have a team of robots before they are happy...ONE KICK? Bwahaaaahaaa....like get the **** outta here.
One shirk of the contest gets a BIG GONG as Mitch Morton is finding out atm, but one kick?

Farmer is a ****ing commando...will break through a wall if his coach tells him to do it.
In a couple of years this kid is going to be a tank of mega proportions and he can kick it a ****ing mile and hit a target.
Hey dude, i bet my bottom dollar you were a J Bowden fan yeah? Fluffster extraordinare. ;)

It is when the player he missed (Deledio) was 15m in the clear while everyone else was covered. Farmer hits that target, Lids takes off through the guts and delivers a 50m kick into our F50.

Sorry to rain on your parade here and whilst I respect everybody's opinions, I can't believe there are people trying to write the kid off after just 9 games. One thing Farmer has is attitude. He will spill blood for the RFC and that is something that can't be said for many others before him. Yes, he will make mistakes but I would rather a player that will give you everything like there is no tomorrow. He has on 2-3 occasions this year shown that he is not afraid to give someone a wack (like the tigers of old). He has had the last two pre seasons interrupted with injuries which may provide an answer to his leg speed and fitness but in an improving side within Hardwick's game plan which is already showing signs of a terrific future for your club, I believe he will be an important contributor. Thanks for letting me have my two bobs worth.

What injuries has he had?

And FWIW I agree largely with what you say. I'm not completely sold on him yet but I am liking him more the more I see him play.

My comments based on Farmer's injuries are from the AFL website and comments on your own club's thread's last year which indicated that he was not training with the main group before Xmas. I stand corrected if I am wrong. My family are are made keen tigers supporters so I hear it all the time.

I don't know, which was why I was asking

It was more the nature of any injuries I was after.

have watched him closely for dream team purposes and after a fairly average start he has improved as the season has gone on, I think Hardwick has the right idea using him as a forward and a defender, he does lack pace but many footballers have had good careers not needing it.

would give him atleast 3 seasons and if all goes well he could become a very useful relief player.

Got me ****ed where all this anti- Farmer crap is coming from....seems as if someone just drew his name at random out of the annual whipping boy hat...you're like a bunch of wharfies with all this irrational Farmer hate...:o
