guys who care about their skin 'n' hair are ****ing gay ******s who ain't good at sports.

M I RITE?!?!

Not gay.......distracted, and I wouldnt care if merv hughes wore hair putty in his moustache. The point is that a lot of these guys are more concerned about looking good while performing well, rather just performing well. Granted Clarke has been our leading test run scorer in the last few years, but hes also lead the charge in undermining the traditions and histories that bind the team together as a team. When Lara " what rugby league player havent I slept with" Bingle starts meddling in team culture, and even worse, he starts listening to her, then he can piss off.
Just concentrate on what you are payed for, and that is to play cricket to the best of your ability. Any endorsements should be seen as a bonus, and only came about because of your cricketing profile. Without cricket, you have no endorsements.

MJ just isn't that good.

Has no control, can't swing it, and isn't able to come up with or bowl to a plan.

He'll have his days when he's unplayable but most of the time he's his ordinary self.

I can't believe how he gets wickets so easily and they're mostly nothing balls. Picks up the cheapest wickets in the world and I thought Brett Lee was bad.

I think I actually agree with you

One minute you see him get smacked for a handful of boundaries and his figures are something like 0/60, you switch off and then when you turn the cricket back on he's got one of the cheapest 5fers you'll ever see.

Bollinger was better but picked up less wickets due to a little bad luck.

50 wickets and 500 runs in a calendar year- only the 5th man to do it in history- pretty fair company, though...

Botham, Dev, Hadlee and Vetori

Bet he'd rather have the Ashes, but it is still quite an accomplishment

But according to many experts on this board, he only gets wickets through rubbish balls?

Good effort :thumbsu:

However, given the amount of cricket played these days, these sort of records are going to be made on a regular basis.

Botham
1978 - 16 innings 597 runs, 414 overs 66 wickets
1981 - 23 innings 629 runs, 556 overs 62 wickets

Dev
1979 - 23 innings 619 runs, 592 overs 74 wickets
1983 - 28 innings 579 runs, 578 overs 75 wickets

Flintoff
2005 - 24 innings 709 runs, 532 overs 68 wickets

Vettori
2008 - 23 innings 672 runs, 590 overs 54 wickets

Johnson
2009 - 17 innings 500 runs, 484 overs 60 wickets

Couldn't see where Hadlee had scored over 500 runs in a calender year.

MJ and Vettori don't necessarily play more test cricket however...

Exactly, but still a fair effort Mitch.:thumbsu:

If that were true, more people would be doing it.

There aren't that many cricketers out there who will take 50 wickets in a calendar year, and also be a handy batsman. 50 wickets would be extremely uncommon for an all-rounder.

your point is valid but I'd imagine if blokes like Miller or Davidson played 17 tests in a year they would get this milestone.

Infact Miller would push 750 runs and 75 wickets
