How so?
Pointing out how far of the mark a certain know it all poster was?
I had been saying all along, Johnson had shown enough in previous games before that thread was made that he was going to be a very good bowler. A few ODI's he played against India when he destroyed a powerful batting lineup was proof enough for me. I remember him bouncing KP in a CT match, he may have even hit KP in the helmet and then following it up with a perfectly pitched fuller bowl which KP tried to drive and edged to Gilchrist.
Just little things like that suggest that a bowler has talent. Gunnar's original post in this thread doesn't say directly but it defintely leans to the fact that Gunnar doesn't think Johnson is up to it.
He tried to deny it but i won't be fooled.
Rest assured Gunnar, if he was still allowed on the cricket borad, wouldn't be bringing this thread up anytime soon.

The amazing thing is Gunnar's first post was actually quite logical and fairly well thought out. And Johnson did come good after he had played "15 odd tests"
I'm not sure if you're old enough but I certainly am to see what Dennis Lillee did on the field and if he says this guy is one in a million, I believe him.The amazing thing is Gunnar's first post was actually quite logical and fairly well thought out. I think we can afford to carry him at the moment with Clark and Lee bowling so well. Our attack is comfortably the best in world cricket so just let him continue to develop. Someone should help him with his accuracy though.
I don't think his place in the team will be questioned. But he is more suited to fast, bouncy wickets. He'll be ok.
The type of pitch doesn't really matter if you're landing them three foot outside off.
I love Mitchy, but he was ****ing woeful last night.
He is hot and cold. Not consistent. Agree he needs to develop that. I think he's worried about how hittable he becomes when there's no bounce, could explain the balls pushed wide?
Could be right mate. Did notice his arm action was slinging really low.
I was half asleep so I can't remember - was he falling away badly in his delivery stride and follow through as well?
McGrath always said it best - bowling, when you know your game and technique, is a relatively simple process; there are generally only 3-4 things you can be doing wrong outside of your perfect process; check them, address them, and get back on track.
The problem with Mitchell is that he still places enormous pressure on himself, and while McGrath might have as well, Johnson's response when he struggles is still to get down on himself and drop his head a little - which makes it hard for him to come back from session to session, let alone over to over.
MJ has such a clunky action compared to someone like Pigeon. You get the feeling that a slight loss of rhythm has the potential to derail MJ's bowling a lot further.

The thing he's not suited to is the new ball. He wastes the ball far too much for new ball duties. At a time when it was so important to make batsmen play every ball, he was bowling 4 balls an over 2-3 feet outside off stump.
I realise he has 97 Test scalps in just 22 Tests, but I'm not all that impressed by him to be honest.
