If there is any more proof required that cricketers these days are soft as butter this has to be it. Is he ****ing kidding?

Bugger me, first Tait and now MJ is showing just how little mental strength and fortitude he really has.

FFS, if this sort of "mummy tiff" leaves him unable to hit the side of a barn then how the hell will he be able to cope when life dishes up something that requires some true resilience.

He comes across as the type that if slapped across the face would go crying to his mummy... assuming of course she is talking to him.

HTFU or GTFO.

You're a real tough man. A real national hero, let's all salute your hairy-chested brawn and refusal to accept that some men might be more emotionally unstable than others.

You are a true champion, you demonstrate how the weak should be crushed in the wake of your forceful manliness.

Well then F'off and don't play for Australia. We play to win, not to baby some soft'c who's mummy doesn't like his GF.

I laughed at strescothick and now we have our own version.

It's a disgrace, if you are mentally fragile, sit home with blanky and get better, do not pretend you can play for Australia in an ashes series which requires some mental toughness.

Seriously? You actually laughed at a man who's international career was finished due to stress problems? Honestly? Man...

I laughed at a man who was fit enough mentally to play at home but not abroad. Nothing more. If his problems were more deep seated than that then i don't think that is funny but when i read that he couldn't tour but would be ok to play at home, yea, i thought HTFU you weak prick.

He obviously has an anxiety disorder and/or something along those lines. Though your response is typical of someone who is unaware/does not know how to deal with mental illness.

yea i have been known to be like that, although i am getting a lot lot better. I understand mental illness is real but i probably have a way to go and still feel some people are just f'ing weak or soft, rather than actually having a disease.

I may be wrong but I'm sure in some cases, I'm right.

In Johnson's case, yes mental toughness maybe required where as with MT and Tait were two I can see why they had periods in struggle town.

Not interested in alot of the mental toughness stuff but Johnson is best advised to leave talking about this sort of stuff for his self titled autobiography in 2021.

Not sure much good can come from speaking about this whilst he is still playing, especially so far after the event.

I really think Tait is just as soft as butter. And I'm a south Aussie and loved the bloke when he came into the spotlight.

Knowing a few people that have more knowledge of his "situation" than i do, they reckon he is as weak as piss?????

You clearly don't have a clue about the problems a lot of young people have in coping with sudden fame.

Maybe you should consider shutting your mouth until you've genuinely talked with a youth psychologist. I have, and it opened my eyes and stopped me having a laugh at the expense of a lot of young people with depression problems. You at least admit you can be wrong, folks like likka are a revolting sort, however. Never have had experience with mental illness and probably are the type in a pub at 5pm puffing their chest out about the hobo they kicked the previous night.

Being mates with a few crows players, i've got a bit of an idea. They handled it pretty well. Back to Back and i can't think of anyone who lost their shit. It isn't easy i realise that but if you want the glory, harden up and deal with it or get out.

Depression is another story all together and I feel sorry for the people with true depression that have these softies lobbed into their boat, unfairly.

It cheapens their illness.

i know a few of the redbacks from my junior days and that say what you say footyfreak about tait (bit soft) little bit ironic imo considering they also consider fatty cosgrove a top bloke, personally i reckon everyone has their breaking point with injuries and maybe everyone is underselling his shoulder injury especially for a fast bowler. Remember he came out at the 2007? WC in the windies right after injury and dominated so to call him soft like MJ isnt fair.

Soft as butter. Glenn McGrath played week after week with everything his wife was going through but never did his form drop off like Johnsons did.

This...

I understand everyone is different, and deals with things in different ways. Fine.

But don't come out and whinge in the media, whether you were questioned first or not. Get on with the job, improve and learn from it, try to repay the faith of your team mates and country. not to mention showing some self pride.

End rant.

So from a media article, you feel qualified to make a psychological assessment of them?

I feel sorry for people with depression because of people like you too, who make judgements based on newspaper articles.

NO way! I'm not qualified at all. I'm talking shit on an internet forum. Like all of us. :)

The article pissed me off (slightly). He should STFU and play cricket. And if he is so mentally weak he shouldn't be the face of cricket for Australia this summer as is being touted on ACA tonight with an interview with him doing calendars and the like.

You can't have it both ways. You have to take the negative press with the positive. Seems he can't hack his mum coming out and saying his Fiancé is a dumb bitch but he is happy to be promoted as the face of Ausssie cricket and do a feel good piece on the same show that caused him all this so called "heartache"

It's all bullshit. Take wickets, smash the windies and STFU :)

Why did it piss you off? Johnson copped unbelievable aounts of abuse for his collapse in form...does he not have the right to explain himself? Or do deadshits just get to abuse him through TV, newspaper and Internet with impunity? Right of reply is offensive to you, and a bit of honesty too?

Jesus, the macho gene has gone overboard with some people. Two thumbs up to the guy for having the guts to admit this to the public.

Well if that is his reason for poor form i'd prefer the country to think i was just a shit house bowler or just had a bad series.

And it pissed me off (slightly) coz i thought it was weak. And i don't like the Aussie cricket team looking weak.
