Yes by all means take everything to its most literal meaning. I can see why you argued with Ros all the time.
Is 1 good innings in 7 good enough yes/no?

See again. Bringing others in to defend it. Others failures doesn’t absolve his.
Stop squirming and answer a simple yes/no question.

If he’s bowling regularly (by the way, interesting that you conveniently ignored his 45 in the last match) and making one or two big scores a series, it’s fine.

But yeah tell us again how the guy averaging 49.6 since being recalled needs to go.

Mitch Marsh has been the second best current bat this series. Would be dropping Khawaja before him, and even his brother.

Well we’ll agree to disagree.
Sadly it’ll take a near certain failure in the Ashes in 2019 for the selectors to see sense.

I simply don’t give credence to the average due to the massive outlier present. What’s the average with the 180 removed?

35. Not fantastic but not poor.

36.

Want me to take out the other century, the 90-odd and the 45 so we can have a proper look at his ability?

Difference is the others have runs on the board. Khawaja averages iirc somewhere around 50 at home. Shaun Marsh isn’t too bad. Handscomb and Renshaw were dropped when their form dipped. So why is the golden boy any different?

He’s not, he has a better home series than Uzzie and is younger.

Handscomb was failing when others were making runs.

Dropping Mitch now because he failed a year ago doesn’t make any sense.

If he fails in the tests against Zimbabwe and Bangladesh drop him. I dare say if he does nothing for the first test or 2 against India he will be fine as well.

I’m aware he won’t be dropped now. We’d be stupid to given the change in the team.
I just know I’m ultimately right about him and he will let us down in the Ashes next year, others may do as well.

We'll have to see how he does in County this season. Him and Shaun.

Steve Smith also. although I think it will be hard for him with a ban ending at the end of April and a WC before the Ashes.

I’ve been critical about Khawaja’s performances away from home before. Not relevant here. This is about Marsh, a player whose position as a top 6 batsman for this country is tenuous at best.

Everyone keen to bring other players into it. This is about Marsh. You want to discuss Khawaja or Handscomb on Hazlewood start a thread on them. He’s not proving his detractors wrong is he. Can’t score against good opposition and can’t score unless it’s a road, the fact that many others in the team have issues that are similar is a discussion for another thread [development of junior batsmen]. If we’re so keen to bring other players into this then Joe Burns, Handscomb and Renshaw were all dropped for superior records. Yet sub 30 for a top 6 bat is acceptable? Come off it.

Is two centuries and three fifties from 45 innings good enough for someone in the top 6 yes/no?

If we were overflowing with batsmen like 16 years ago some of this may make sense.

He played a lot of early tests when he shouldn’t of, I don’t think that should be a criteria for dropping him now when his average over the past 7 tests Australia played id be guessing would be fairly decent.

Of course it’s relevant to compare him to others, why drop Mitch Marsh if others are worse? Unless you want all of uzzie, s Marsh and Handscomb drooped too. As there is more reason to drop the above 3 than Mitch (maybe not uzzie but def the other 2).

Wait till we get to that stage, a lot of cricket to be played between now and then

Pete Lalor was speculating that perhaps the ban from domestic cricket could be lifted for the second half of the domestic season in order for him to find some form for the World Cup and the Ashes.

Do you believe anyone has got to the bottom of this yet? The more we hear, the worse Smiths leadership seems.

First I heard about Smith playing County. When was this and with who?

You are correct with Bancroft,my understanding is Smith had no plans to play county cricket this season but one side made enquiries about playing him.

Remove dead flat Australian pitches as well...

Well well well. Back to potato form.
Who’d have thought he could only score on a road

Dear assorted Western Australian muppets.
He’s shit.

No surprises to see you rushing in here to deflect after another mediocre appearance from Handscrabbler. There there mate.

No deflection son.

Fully admit he's not doing well enough and did so when he was dropped.
The irony being that you've just deflected from Marsh's performances.

If the 12 months ban stay in place (I do believe they should be reduced to 6 months) then I would certainly be encouraging them to at least lift the shield ban from the second half of the season.

I actually think it would be beneficial to keep the shield ban in place for the first half of the season if the 12 month bans aren't reduced. Get them down playing grade cricket for the first half of the season. I think long term that would be a huge benefit to all three. Remember what its like back down in the grassroots. Don't forget what you came from.

Won’t serve much good for Bancroft, as due to rules of Perth grade, the CA bans also bans him from grade
