a) The selectors need to give him a full domestic season at least. He’s taken great strides already in my eyes.

b) People need to get off his back. He’s still one of our best prospects and is in no way a ‘hack’, as his detractors would have you believe.

Pretty much sums it up for me, would have liked he got the chance to continue to develop himself (as he has been doing pretty nicely as a leader) before a recall.

I don't think Handscomb's reached the tipping point just yet so I'd be keeping the same XI for Perth anyway.

Been smashing em this season and could be the next captain of Australia ( If proves his form ).

Injury is Mitch's problem and his footwork but has been in real good form like it or not is probably the next best option as a batting all rounder .

Mitchell Marsh 100% deserves to be in this side. There is no all rounder in the team, they are afraid of a lifeless waca (thanks whatever dickhead made that decision) and if they choose to drop handscomb theyd want a pace all rounder. And mitch is the best pace alrounder in australia.

He should be in. Hope he plays

Its happened, again.

Why do the selectors keep going back to this guy?

20 tests as a batting all rounder have proven he is shit.

Does he hold nudes of Mark Waugh? Or has Glenn Maxwell hooked up with a selectors daughter?

Cricket Australia probably feel going in 2-1 rather than 3-0 is better for the Boxing Day test

Well its not based on his actual output as a cricketer, so what else? 21 tests, 35 innings as a top six bat and an average of 21.74 and a first class average of 30.07. In what universe is that worthy of the amount of chances this bloke has been given?

Because for whatever reason they desperately want an allrounder in the team.

Its a stupid obsession and he shouldn't have played anywhere near that many tests but its not because of his dad.

That Smiff gives about 4 overs to anyway.

The complete disconnect between the selectors and Smith over the need for a fifth bowler is pretty farcical. He only ever used Mitch when one of the frontliners broke down and never used Maxwell.

Not selecting one.
Sure.

But those wondering why he gets "so many chances" or why x batsman isn't picked ahead of him must realise they are missing the point? If CA wants a seaming all rounder there aren't other viable options right now.

But you're right that Smith uses him far too sparingly when available.

No doubt his old man Rod Marsh pulled a few strings to get him in the team just like he did with Shaun.
Wonder who's pulling the strings when they keep getting dropped? There's a master puppeteer battle going on behind the scenes somewhere.
