Looking pretty doesn't always score you runs. Bigfooty people have an obsession with "good techniques". Unfortunately techniques don't win you the ashes, runs do though. If he can't score runs at FC level what makes you think his going to change at test level?

From the limited bits I've seen of him in the past 6 months, he's improved his footwork a lot. He needs a solid injury-free year in Shield before he gets considered for anything other than ODIs. I'd prefer he was kept away from international T20s completely, but then I always want that for young batsmen.

Yep.

Out of all the batting all-rounders in this country, Mitch is the most talented by an absolute mile. Hasn't come on anywhere near as well as most thought by this stage of his career though.

3 years ago, I reckon CA thought Mitch would of been in the frame to replace Ponting or Hussey, injuries and form have meant thats not the case, but he's not out of the frame of an Ashes spot if he piles on the runs from now on, he's always been CA's lovechild imo........

He's still very young and being a decent quality all-rounder is bloody hard. That's why most of ours are a bit duff.

It would be something of a very happy (for WA fans) miracle if four of the most injury-prone players in Aus were on the park at the same time for one Shield match of the season let alone ten.
