sorry, mitchell goes well against them. oh well, hopefully burgs is the good charm to get us over the line this time

any chance shiels will come in to take sewell's run with role so sewell can take mitchell's place? No idea how shiels is going at Box hill though. I think Clarkson will replace Mitchell with a midfielder to keep the rotations going, either shiels or ladson if he is fit.

Haven't won a game with out Mitchel this year, Dam I'm not as positive now that we can beat the Cats with out him.
Says on the website that he will miss 2 weeks.

Hodge is in great form, and I'd expect him to stand up for this game. We also have Burger, Rioli, Young, Sewell, Lewis etc who can all make a massive impact on a game. I'd not be surprised if Kayler Thompson was brought into the team to add some flair to the midfield, since he's been carving up in the Box Hill side. I wouldn't be writing us off, still a huge chancxe with a strong team on paper. Remember Gibson could easily play mid for a while :)

Hmmmm.....no love for Travis Tuck at all......

He goes well against the Cats, is starting to get a bit of it at BH, and is the best 'like for like' option.

Has to be a show.
Would love to see Tucky back in throwing himself into it. He's a good kid and deserves to be back in.

Now that is an interesting option.

Seems to be out of favour but is tough at teak and a good option to cover Mitchell.:thumbsu:

Sewell needs to step up now.

In; gibbo brown
out; shoe Mitchell

can musto play a negating role in the midfield and allow sool to play more of a mitch role? Agree that sool really needs to get back
to his 08 form in this game.

Also, the cats are wanting to bring back ottens, ling and Taylor for this game. If ottens makes it back, expect him to sit FF all game which reeeeeally scares me. If ottens comes back in I'm not as bullish as I once was about this game.

Whether it has been posted or not above (sorry if it has), but, I believe a obvious replacement for Mitch is Travis Tuck.

I don't believe muston and peterson can fulfil the role. Given sewell has been tagging, we need an 'in and under' ball winner, and this is the perfect opportunity for the 'son of jesus' to shine.

Go Tucky!

Donot expect a big game from hodge, who will be tagged closely by Ling.

In:

Mitch
Musto
Shoey (love him though)

Out:

Tuck
Brown - play forward
Gibbo - play back

Sammy plays a blinder in the last quarter in particular and then find out it was with a busted hand too....pretty tough sort of a unit there...

Gee's thats a big out for us, (but really hope it is only for this game, as he is in great form)...

Reckon it will be Gibbo and Browny in for Mitch and one of Carl/Musto or Shoey....

This is a massive chance for Shaun Burgoyne to pick up the slack and have a real blinder. I get a feeling that this could be the breakout chance that he needs to really tear a game apart with the extra time he will get around the ball.

Yep, agreed. Great oppurtunity for Burger to get in and under at our ruckmans feet. Also we really need Lewis and Sewell get back to their very best.. OK they have been OK teh last few weeks but hey Hodge, Sewell, Lewis, Burgoyne, Rioli in the Midfield is still pretty good so no excuses against the pussy head duckers.

Interesting to See Taylor a possibility to be in this week... but will need at least 2 with Boxhill.

Had 11 contested possessions last time he played the Cats. Although he did turn the ball over a bit, you could instruct him to get in there and get it out quickly by handball and give it to our other midfielders. Would be handy just for him to get it before Selwood and Ablett do.

On the other hand Peterson if you rewatch the Melbourne game round 1, is player who can play in and under in the midfield. Maybe a high occurring rotation of Peterson, Rioli and Franklin in the midfield might be key.

Gibbo in, Ellis to the midfield?

Not that we were getting ahead of ourselves but this will keep us in check.

Geelong without Mooney, Johnson
Hawks without Mitchell.

When Ellis goes to the midfield he always ends up looking like

Massive loss... I don't think it is a coincidence that we have won all our games since Sammy came back from his hammy injury in Round 8. I just hope the boys can step up like they always do against the Cats.

Gibson a certainty to come in now as the 'quarterback' in place of Shoe with Hodge having to shift to the middle all game.

I cant see it being only Gibson and Brown in as i think we will need another runner to replace Mitch (with JKT, Shiels, Tuck etc the most obvious choices).

We havent seen it yet, but Burgers is one of the best clearance players in the league so here is his time to shine!!

Negative.

Mitchell = In and under ball winner, thus we should replace him with a similiar type.

Simple geography, mate.

Yes, agree, we don't replace an inside with an outside.

Tuck is our man.

Also, there is a lot of talk abt burger standing up, but, I believe Jordan Lewis needs to step up, and take that responsibility this week. For me, if tuck can shine, this will place some 'positive' competition for lwis' spot.

Burgoyne has been exceptional in getting his own clearance and breaking out of packs.
Have a look at the highlights from Friday night and for most of our goals Burgoyne started the play. 20 touches for Burgoyne = 30 for your normal midfielder.
