We are honouring/celebrating the career from one of our champions who twice beat cancer and came back from 3 Knee reconstructions. The post game grilling and critique from the coaches can come later, but Doc has earned the right to celebrate his fine career with his team mates and family in the locker room.
Its been a pretty dark/miserable season for the players and fans, its good for the morale at least for the young players to have bit of a celebration post game for a change.
We all know there will be massive changes coming to the club next year, we acquited ourselves okay in the second half anyway.

The players actually dug deep and thought the game out for Doc
Never happy about a loss but that was an acceptable performance under the circumstances
We will miss you Sam Docherty and thanks for everything. You and your body and soul gave so much for our club, its a shame we couldn't reciprocate with finals success and a flag but we will always admire and respect you as a club great who overcame so much adversity.
Appreciate the respect Hawthorn are giving Doc, being chaired off by Kade Simpson (an Hawk assistant) just seemed so right.
Tearing up a bit i must admit.
Couldn't get to the game due to work, but made sure to get off the couch and applaud Docherty as he was chaired off. Very nice touch having Simpson there to chair him off, and also have Ratten there to farewell him, too.

Glad the old boy snagged one Elmer_Hauser. Some good signs for us in our returned trio. Other than that, horrid game aside from some good goals and marks, most of which happened early.

Cash (Dear) really continues to impress in wet and windy conditions which don't suit key marking fowards af all usually.
I was just glad we didn't get blown away and the kids showed some good things for us.

Concerning signs for the Hawfs heading into the business end, losing 3/4 of the game and giving up inside 50’s like the umps give free kicks to the Pies.
Hope they somehow manage to stay in it long enough for the Cats to meet them in September, but I doubt it.
