I told my Richmond mate that the Tigers would be crazy not to recruit Mick in 2013. He knows how to get a football club operating properly.

There will be a carrot on offer no doubt about that. MM might think being the "director of coaching" (what ever that is?!!??) may suit his needs when it comes around (eg spending more time with the grand kids etc etc) ... but if his health's right, it wouldn't be a surprise to me if he left and took on another senior coaching role especially at his old club. MM is an alpha male. It's as simple as that. And without question he knows how to rebuild clubs and if there's one club that needs a strong alpha male to shake it's culture it's Richmond.

well i had the same thought...that he has a strategy of rambling.... when he was with the Beagles he used to abuse the Perth journos which he cant do now..

but I've seen him talking about Anzacs and other things. I've seen him interviewed by light entertainment stuff like "before the game" and he still seems to waffle...

I still think its old age...

You can add Footy classified to the list of things he has sounded senile in. I attribute it half to old age and half to him purposefully being a tool to the media. It really is a lottery whether you get a clear and concise MM or the usual waffling MM.

It depends a lot on which show he's on I suppose. He definitely hates the Horse Biatch and has little time for Hutchy or Starsky.

Very true, I guess when you spend that long involved in the top level there are definitely going to be people that you don't like speaking to. He obviously finds it funny to either waffle or be grumpy towards these people. I think as he has gotten older he has become less grumpy and waffled more. I actually find it amusing myself but it can be quite frustrating at times and I much prefer to hear him speak when he respects the journo - but this list seems to get shorter every year.

Nathan Buckley, no matter how old, was still around.

We had James Clement, Scott Burns, Shane Wakelin, Anthony Rocca and Prestigiacomo in their prime, or just ending their run.

Tarkyn Locker, Josh Fraser, Shane O'Bree, Dane Swan, Paul Medhurst, Nick Maxwell, Ben Johnson, Leon Davis and Alan Didak as the secondary senior group behind the top one.

Quality kids like Marty Clarke, Heath Shaw, Scott Pendlebury, Dale Thomas, Harry O'Brien and Tyson Goldsack.

Ryan Lonie was still around at 24 as well.

That wasn't a good, ordinary side, that was a good to very good side. I'm sick of hearing this whole 'over-achieving' crap and 'punching above their weight' crap people speak of in football. You either perform to what you're capable of, or you under-perform due to injury or/and complacency. I've never been able to kick 50-55 metres, and I've never been able to 'over-perform' and kick 50-55 metres no matter how hard I've tried.

Good sides make Prelims, not good, ordinary sides. Maybe the year before, or the year after, we weren't good, but in 2007, we were far from ordinary.

Ryan lonie played 4 matches in 2007 so no point including him there, but I think you are right in that we were better than a good ordinary side. I think because we exceeded expectations that people had at the start of year people seem to think we were just an average side who played above themselves, it couldn't just be that peoples judgment of the talent in the side was wrong and we just didn't see the improvement from previous years.
