A highly entertaining mess in my opinion. If it's back for season 2, I reckon it's got about three more decent episodes in it before the wheels completely come off.
It has the potential to go that way for sure

Finished it tonight.

Excellent show, Hardy's character was outstandingly written, and his acting chops are on the very top shelf. Brilliant.

I enjoyed all of it. I do agree on Maeave on Conrad stayting in prison wouldn't be a bad thing. She's an evil ****ing bitch.

The Antwerp episode was insane, and that chainsaw bit was mental.

The problem is there's hardly any characters in it whom you couldn't describe as 'one-dimensional', including Hardy's Harry. He's likable and charismatic, sure, but you could still probably do a description of him that sums him up in two sentences. Most characters you could probably sum up in one. Kevin's probably the one with the most potential, then Seraphina: they could develop and evolve into something else in the second season. When you cast your mind to The Wire, Breaking Bad, The Sopranos... the characters in those universes (and not just the main characters) were complex, they had layers, it was rarely as simple as "he's pure evil" or "they're a complete moron", but that's what Mobland's like

There just isn't enough depth, so many characters where the feeling is basically "Why have they wasted time introducing you? You basically add nothing."

Not even. Probably even two grunts.

i dont necessarily disagree with you. However, as simplistic as it may be, maybe that's what people want. Violence, gangs, drugs, money, cars and scenery. Sometimes people just want simple things instead of empirical analysis and critique.

Think people are looking way too far into it to be honest.
I tend to agree. Sometimes it's just nice to enjoy something without needing to forensically analyse every part of it

Hundy P. I thought the show was excellent, relatively easy to follow along and was most importantly; fun.

It made me not want to use my phone for a few hours too.

Yeah was going to say, I don't think this was ever designed to be a Soprano/The Wire type show.

It's never going to be that quality.

Yep, I loved it. I thought it was great.

Often online (and sometimes in print media) you'll see critics swallow a thesaurus and dictionary and spew all sorts of stuff that probably seek to confuse and confabulate the reader/observer. All in the act of espousing intelligence that is quite faux.

When they start talking about the first act, the third act, my eyes glaze over.

I can live with people saying it's entertaining; I was entertained by it too. It's got nice cars, big bangs, plenty of action, lots of carnage.

But when people are going on about how masterfully it's written, how brilliant the characters are, I'm a bit "Wait a second..."

Apparently that's "looking too much into it": to say the characters are all one dimensional, we have little idea why any of them actually do what they do and it will be lucky to get three decent episodes out of the second season. We'll see.

Mobland isn't the type of show where you can get any insights on the meaning of life. It would be wrong to review the show on that basis. It is just entertainment with gangsters, car chases, explosions, executions, family intrigue. But the character motivations should still make sense. They mostly did except for Maeve.

You can appreciate movies without being aware of why they appeal. The three act structure seems to resonate with people. If you recognise the pattern it doesn't diminish from your enjoyment.

Act 1: Establish the world and characters. Ends with an inciting incident—an event that propels the story forward.
Act 2: Develop conflict and build tension. The protagonist faces a series of obstacles with rising stakes and what looks like a fatal moment.
Act 3: Resolve the conflict and complete character arcs. Loose ends are tied up.

You're probably asleep by now!

okay Im awake now. haha

its when people try to get deep and meaningful thinking theyre at Cannes in a smokey bar pretending to be academics shining a light on societal woes vs systemic nature of the plant world while intertwining it with Act 1 Act 2 that resolves insomnia
