Very detailed analysis and has New Zealand in second over the period. I didn’t read all the intricacies of the criteria but suffice to say there was a very complex process applied to rating the teams.

I was in the camp of thinking NZ were probably the best of an ordinary bunch behind India before the Australian series.

Who would have played the 2017-19 World Test Championship final if there had been one?

I think interestingly though it did say that it only included 2 of the 3 matches between New Zealand and Australia, and if it had been considered as a 2 match series (instead of as an incomplete 3 match series) Australia would have been narrowly ahead in 2nd place.

Indeed, though prior to that series nz were actually ranked 1

3rd at best for Australia 4th or 5th more realistic. But we're coming.
