Moderator Election.

I feel I am repeating myself.

Though these are the main points.

1. The election will have no impact on who moderates
2. So far most posters are happy with the way the place is moderated.
3. Myself and Rip are happy as moderator's at the moment, I enjoy contributing to the site I have spent quite a few years on (And learn't allot because of).

That's essentially the end of this topic.

Finally! All you had to do is say NO.

Quite frankly, painting the picture that it is not possible for you guys to relinquish moderating duties, even if you wanted to, is a bit misleading.

You don't want to. Fair enough, I'll retract the suggestion.

Theres quite a few in here I could suggest whom would be very good Mods. But theres a couple dare I say clear ones, IP and Gav.

Maybe that would be a good thing, especially considering you're an English teacher. You could spend your evenings clamping down on the use of "loose" and "lose".

I agree , the only thing we are trying to achieve is to attack the issues, not the poster.

I am sure a few of my sparring partners (Dom & Tocpdock spring readily to mind) were aprehensive when I was made mod , but nothing has changed .

We still spar every now and then without flaming one another.

If you want to put up a poll to check the mood of the board towards the mods Roundhouse , feel free to.

If enough of our posters think I am not doing a good enough job , I will toss it in.

BTW, I dont see a need for any changes to Sabre and Rip. I'm fine with them, Rip tends to be a soft tho.

Ripper I dont think you should take this thread as a vote of no confidence, Roundy is just sounding off. You both do a great job!

ESL major / English minor... have spent many years teaching in IECs - this is my first year teaching solely "mainstream". Also lived for 3 years in Singapore... so I know exaclty where you're coming from...

There seems to be a lot of resistance to the issue being raised. Whats the problem with Roundhouse raising it? There is no problem with raising the issue IMO.
Mods are inconsistant, and in a way remind me of umpires ( and don;t we all just love them ).
They all have the same rule book but seem to make their calls in their own way.
I find it perplexing one Mod gives keeps touching you up whereas another mod/s don't even bother you, much less even ever spoken to you ever, which makes me think it comes down to personality. The censoring/removal of posts is questionable at times, and other it is warranted. The new Dockerland perhaps?
Just very interesting how things are ran at times......

From what i've seen Ripper and Sabre do a pretty good job as moderators. I wouldn't imagine it was an easy job, I was offered it last year but it didn't work out for one reason or another, but i've seen the hard work that the board moderators especially put in. Whatever you do though don't make Bushie a moderator.

Also Moo is the people's mod.

Moderators are appointed by Chief. Names are thrown up for discussion on the moderator forum and the history of posters considered. All moderators can have access to some sensitive information regarding the running of BigFooty and the discussion of disciplinary action and the admins will not allow just anyone to be privy to the information. BigFooty has been bitten before in that regard.

Sabre is quite correct in what he has advised. We do go through nominations sometimes but suggestions can be and are often ignored.
