Moloney

Just wanted to know everyones opinion, good or bad call to get rid of moloney to snare ottens, Positives and Negatives.

It was a good move.We needed a forward/ruckman and we had plenty of midfielders.

Here's the low down ...

@ Geelong Brent Moloney was playing off the bench and in and out of the team (got dropped in the finals last yr which shows he wasn't in our best 22 when we had a full squad to choose from)

@ Melbourne Brent Moloney is a gun - porbly best midfielder - and dees supporters are labelling him as a future captain!

(i hope he does become captain - cause Beamer is a top bloke and would luv to captain an AFL team)


Therefore this means that a player who couldn't get a regular spot at Geelong is labelled as the next Melbourne captain - which means Melbourne lack serious leadership!!!

Melbourne does lack some leadership (Our younger players in McLean, Moloney, Miller etc go in harder than our leadership group) but the reason Moloney was picked up was Melbourne lacked grunt.
Although similiar in ability, Geelong and Melbourne are two very different teams.

id say we were worse off
ottens is always gunna b injury prone and moloneys a gun who could win a brownlow.
he would have easily been in our best 18 this year. the only reason he wasnt previously was because he injured his finger and missed about 6 weeks.
it was blokes lik him who started to turn our season around last year and unfortunatly he got injured at the wrong time.
personally id rather moloney anyday and if we were to trade him then we shouldve gone afta thompson

He barracked for Melbourne growing up too...would be his dream to play for and possible captain them.

Beamer had no finger injury during the important part of last yrs campaign and found himself inand out of the team.
