I cannot see Monday night football working at all. I can't believe they committed an entire year of the games.

We shall see.

I reckon it's a concept worth trying.

On the condition that the great majority of matches are played at Urban and Regional Venues.

MNF at Shark Park, CUA and Brookvale is a disaster waiting to happen. People working in the city are lucky to get home after clocking off at 5:00pm by 6:30pm when they live in farout places like Gymea, St Marys and The Forest.

I think it's got it's best chance of success in regional centres Like Newcastle and Canberra. The population is largely centralised and can get get to the stadium relatively efficiently. The GC's a tricky prospect because so many coasties commute to Brisbane.

Any monday night game at Telstra or Aussie i will go, but any other stadium is pretty much out of the question (Won't make it).

I'm iffy about monday night football... SHAME it's not on free to air!

That's one reason why I don't think it will work. Monday Night Football in America is a big event on free to air in prime time. Here it's usually just an average game put on only for the benefit of pay tv. And it's not on radio either on a Monday night. So people who don't have pay tv, have to make do with score updates.

That's if they even remember it's on. Football fans are so used to the round finishing on a Sunday afternoon, many of them just tune out at that point. I know the last time we had Monday Night Football on Fox back a few years ago, there were a number of times when I simply forgot the Monday night game was even on.

I think it's a bit disappointing that the game is going away from the traditional Sunday afternoons. With 16 teams, there's now going to be an extra game played every week, yet there's going to be one less on Sunday afternoons.

Personally, I'm a big believer in putting games on when they suit the fans, not when they suit the TV stations, but I realise that's not going to happen as 9 and Fox pretty much run the show.

I thought only 2GB had the license to cover the broadcast of NRL games?

Geez this sucks, being in the Gong, I can't pick up any of them and it's RL heartland ffs.

Although saying that, I'm kinda glad I can't get roy hardley and the truck horns, he's a ********ing dope.

I think it can work, but the NRL will only get the real picture if they committ to a full season of Monday night fixtures. If the NRL is looking at Monday nights becoming a permanent fixture in the RL season, playing 5 or 6 Monday Night games throughout the 2007 season will not give an accurate reflection of its viability for future seasons. Returning to Monday nights was always going to happen, but whether it will be long term is another thing.

I honestly don't know if it will work or not.
Personally, as long as there's Monday night football i'm happy.
The AFL should do the same thing.

By spreading the games out a little bit there's a better chance of us watching more games live.
I don't understand the point in playing three games at once anymore, 2 at the maximum.

The more football the better, and it's another thing the NFL do really well, so take a leaf out of their book.
