The kid is 21 years old. Dont you think its a bit early to make such judgement calls? I think he will be one of the guns once he hits 23 to 25 years old.

Never liked him, thought he was just an arrogant little Private School boy to be honest. Showed promise in his debut season but has never, nor looks like he will step up his game. goes to ground way too often and disposal was terrible against sydney. when we had the chance to get the lead in the second quarter, I clearly remember his sending about 3 shocking kicks straight to sydney players.I heard the commentators say at one stage that he had 6 clangers and that was in the 2nd quarter! Just not professional enough, really needs to work on those skills. Bring by JJ

Needs to be played in the midfield for the rest of the year. That way he either comes good and delivers on the talent that he clearly possesses, or doesn't and gets delisted.
I would hate to see him traded and come back to bite us at another club.

You may be right about him being a private school boy, being from the eastern suburbs of Adelaide (great area too, I lived there!) but you know very little if you think he is arrogant.

Never claimed to know much about him, just stating how he struck me at first.. and still now, seems unprepared to get his hands dirty. If he proves me wrong this week, I will personally apologize to you.
When I think Monfries I think bugga.
Bugga because he promised so much in his first year and since then hasn't delivered.
He's gone from being one of my favourite players, to someone I would trade if the right deal came along.

I remember you- the Southwark and West End drinker who ridiculed any mention of trading Monfries, last year, mid season. And you're still sticking up for him. Now, if only he could add some more skill, pace, strength and vision to work ethic, he might get there.
Don't get me wrong, he has disappointed me this season too but I just have a feeling he can make it, whether it is with us or back here in Adelaide. There's just something about him whereas a guy like Dyson is the opposite, lost cause IMO, what the hell was Knights thinking with the 2 year deal. Anyway, a good kick up the backside and/or reality check is what Monfries probably needs!
As bad as Monfries' disposal was in the first half, perhaps we can take heart that he improved in the second. The two goals he set up in the third quarter were magnificent kicks. Yes he's struggling, but his ability and skill obviously hasn't deserted him completely. If he can take some confidence from what he did well last week, maybe the guy will bounce back to be the player we once expected.

I have been one of his many critics this year, but I think last rd despite him butchering the ball in the 1st half showed a few signs.
He very much a confidence player, and in that respect he is at rock bottom.

last weeks disposal accumulation -coupled with hopefully better skills - tomorrow night will change a few opinions. he has shown on occasions that he can get a lot of the ball. in fact, everytime i can remember him being given decent time on the ball, he has been one of our highest possession winners. i will take someone who can get the ball 30 times a game - you can generally fix skill levels, but can't teach winning the footy. does need to keep his feet in the contest more often though.

i hope all you clowns that get on here and bagg angus monfries every week were watching last nites game.
he was always putting his body on the line at every contest ,granted his disposal isn't 100% at times but at least he is prepared to go in an fight for the ball.
thats more than i can say for mr.overrated stanton. let me say i don't give a flying ____ if he is getting a tag every week. still doesn't excuse the fact that he doesn't bother to put his head over the ball or when the opposition has the ball he couldn't be bothered chasing(at one stage last nite no 10 for richmond was standing 30 mtrs out from goal all by himself for about 1 minute while stanton stood 15 mtrs away from him just looking at him, and what happened ?thats right he was given the ball and goaled) ,always wants to hang out and get an easy touch and his disposal is shocking to say the least.
whoever decided to give him the number 5 jumper ought to be hung drawn and quartered . what an embrassement to the great players of the past who have worn this jumper.
we should trade him at the end of the year for someone like a prismall who will put his body on the line and will dispose of the ball 10 times better.
he has 14 weeks to justify his retainment on the list otherwise for once knights make a hard decision.
and if jason johnson can't get a game in this side at the moment then 30,000 essendon fans don't know a thing about the game.

Prismall is softer than Stanton. How many times do I have to say it..Stanton should NEVER EVER be a team's no1 midfielder. He is naturally a goalkicking outside mid. It is hardly his fault that Dodoro stuffed up our drafting.

I missed the game. How was Monfries disposal on Sat night. It was woeful against Sydney but I was pretty impressed with how hard he worked and I think he just has the yips with his kicking.
