Dyson has had over 50 games of being a liability, for the one good thing he did today(kicking the goal) there were many more mistakes. Have you ever seen him lay a tackle?

As I said before, at least when Dyson has the ball, something looks like it could develop from it. He gets the ball and runs, tries to create.

With Monfries, there seems to be nothing.

To truly test Angus' potential, he needs to be given more exposure to centre bounces. Essendon need to groom another "in-and-under" player - as Dyson, Winderlich, Lovett, even Stanton don't like getting their knees dirty...and Watson hasn't been having a good patch of late.

We would not lose much in the experiment I think...

Started too well and believed the hype without staying ahead of the hungrier types on his heels. Now he cannot even breach the gap. I'd reckon he'd be package back to SA very cheaply at the end of the year. Lonergan, though has shown what sheer determination can achieve in a short time. I hope he can pick up where he left off.

Is that true that hawthorn were offering a first rounder for Lee and Monfries??

there are some people on this bloddy forum who have no idea about football. i go to training often and see monfries putting in the hard yards. runs hard on game day, works his arse off. people on this forum just seem to jump on players back as soon as they have a few bad game. he kiked 2 goals playing the small forward against carlton and had 8 free kick for agains them. small bodie yes but thats something he has to work at. get of his back he will be a great player for tthe club. james said he will be a future leader of the club. dnt think u can judge a player lyk he can. get off his back and watch him improve.

there will be a few tuff times ahead at the moment. cant blame a few young players for everything. y not look at the facts lyk we always break down at CHF week after week. we have an awsome ruck man who continually puts in week after week and wins many taps. just not getting the clearences. these things will come with a new coach. times are changing at the football club, just gota wiat. were an awsome club and its worth waiting to see a few of these kids develop.

When Monfries hit the seen early he was hard at the ball and any contest. I haven't seen that in two years or so. He has completely dropped off, and it is more than just confidence.

Someone else questioned his current role. It is a good question. The fact that the answer is elusive makes his future very dubious.

I havn't seen him at all once play inside the square from the last 2 weeks of footy.

I'm not losing faith in him yet....

There must be something about him that limits his progress into the midfield. He could have been built along the Luke Power mold - former forward pocket turns midfielder.

I've never played the game to understand what the transition would be and I can only guess that it's because of some inability or perhaps that he really is only a forward.

I remember he played really really well in the midfield going towards the end of last year....

I have no idea what knighta's trying to do with Monfries but its making Angus look like an absolute D___.

I agree, he needs weight though. You can virtually right off this season, he needs to have a HUGE preseason where he gets massive if his body type/genetics will allow it.

I think the same goes for half our list though.

You need your eye's checked
He has been given some time in the middle but has not done anything with it. He has been in at the center bounce but he does not appear to have the natural instincs to find the footy there. Hell he is not even playing an effective role as a small forward.
His form was very poor last year excpet for a couple of games late in the year and it has been poor this year.

GIVE HIM A RUN IN THE MIDDLE

He's an OK small forward, but it just strikes me that everything he does in the forward line, suits him to be a clearance-type midfielder. He blocks, he tackles, he takes hits, he contests the hard ball & chases the loose ball. Surely everyone else in the world sees this?
