Sorry, Roll Tide, I misread/misunderstood you. I thought you were saying that the pro-conspiracist had won, and presumed you had found what must have been the only threads on that board in which that had happened. I just flicked through those two threads, and JayUtah's rebuttals were quite entertaining.

If you are interested in analysing the Moon Photos - the Clavius site is a great site.
http://www.clavius.org/

It goes into all details about the photographs, how they were shot, the difficulties about protecting the film, the famous burn-out of the Apollo 12 camera. All the hoax claims are thoroughly examined.

As to the above photographs, it is very easy to duplicate that effect on earth with a variety of sloping surfaces. And the biggest point - If there are multiple light sources, where are the multiple shadows for each object?

Seriously, if you take a little bit of time and read Bad Astronomy and Clavius (you really don't need more than an hour or so), there is not a single piece of 'Hoax' evidence that stands up. At least educate yourself fully about the actual evidence from both sides before making up your mind.

And if you haven't got an hour to spare, why are you still holding to an un-educated position about an event that happened over 40 years ago?

Yeah i'll have a look through that site, but honestly you can understand why there is skepticism over the moon landing when there are videos like this;

What is the problem with that video - that is one of the most convincing films of low-gravity operations around.

The problem for many conspiracy theorist's is the gaps in reasoning.

So let's simply look at it from a perspective of getting to the moon

it's claimed the US did not reach the moon in the first place, they only did laps in low earth orbit.

If this is so how did the Luna mirror array end up on the moon?

There are only 2 possibilities 1 the mirrors don't exist 2 at the every least some sort of space craft reached the moon manned or unmanned for those mirrors to placed.

Now considering that anyone can use the Luna mirror array quite easily here on earth today suggest that is highly improbable that they don't exist. (but hey i'd love to here a conspiracy for that)

Add in the fact that the Russians also landed an unmanned space craft on the moon also go towards proving that we CAN reach and could reach the moon at that time.

And that's where the entire conspiracy falls apart you don't need in depth analysis or to and fro rubbish about shadow and speculation that images were altered.

The premise of all these theory's are that A it was too expensive to go to the moon and so didn't go anywhere in near the moon or B the yanks didn't have the technology to reach the moon at all.

Your conspiracies fall over immediately because none explain how the mirrors got to the moon if nobody went there in the first place.

Clearly at some point during the Apollo missions at least one space craft reached the moon and those mirrors were out in place.

Which means
A) the money was spent getting to the moon.
B) we had the technology.

The very reason for the conspiracy is found to be untrue.

A tip for those trying to debunk conspiracy theories: forget it... you simply can’t.

The beauty of conspiracy theories is they’re self-fulfilling. A conspirator comes up with a theory, then selects certain facts which suit their theory and help to explain it.

Those things that can’t be explained simply become part of the conspiracy – things were deliberately altered, covered up, etc etc.

Conspiracy theories turn the concept of logic on its head. Take a ridiculous conclusion, and before you know it, everyone is trying to prove that conclusion didn’t happen.

Give up. You cannot win.

I haven't looked into it, but apparently there's a quote from the wife of Stanley Kubrik saying NASA hired him to film the moon landing, to fake it. And now there's a whole sub-culture of the Fake Moon Landing conspiracy related to info/etc around Kubrik.

I was thinking of going to the moon for my summer holiday. Wouldn't mind getting a slice of the 100+ degree temps

Buzz Aldrin punched a guy for claiming he didn't walk on the moon.

You honestly think that if the moon landing was faked that the Russians wouldn't have been all over it considering the cold war and the space race was going on at that time? I find it easier to believe that America was competent enough to put men on the moon rather than pull off a lie that could last 45 years even with people searching for a conspiracy. Generally when governments tell big lies they are exposed pretty quickly. The problem with conspiracy theories is that none of them ever end up getting proven true.

none of them ever end up getting proven true.

I suggest you research this. Many of them have been proven true, and often many years after the fact. Example...MKULTRA, Kennedy Assassinations, Operation Northwoods, WMDs, etc.

It was a sweeping generalisation sorry. I was really reffering to the big ones that people still go on about. JFK's assassination conspiracy was never proven true, the moon landing conspiracy was never proven true, the 9/11 conspiracies were never proven true. But these are the most popular ones because they if they were true they would be huge.

Were you there?

It would have been uncovered by now, if it was faked. The Russians would have been all over it, to begin with, and the amount of people who would have had to remain tight lipped all this time is impossible.

Sorry I'll change my comment to, I personally believe 100% that it happened.

Conspiracy theories are good In that they keep the world on its toes, keep the powers to be honest. But lets be honest, most of it is complete bullshit. People who watch a biased tv program or read some paranormal website and are convinced of something are just as dumb as the people who believe everything the powers tell them.

I've read into a lot of all that stuff and the thing that pissed me off the most, is that the arguments of conspiracy theorists are as shaky and corrupt as the group or event they're trying to attack.

They mould their facts, pick and choose pieces of evidence to suit their argument.

I stay with away from all that stuff now, because both sides of the argument are always as pathetic as each other.

Were you?

Nope. But one thing i think is certain - there are people that believe in the moon landing and there are people that don't. You won't find anyone who sits on the fence with it. I don't eat up every bit of video the conspiracy theorists have put together. Maybe some of them have doctored the videos to suit their argument.

But in any case i don't see the problem with questioning it either. I mean to me, it really does look like in some of the videos (in particular the 2 i posted above) that they are suspending on some sort of cable support. Then there is the surface temperature, van allen belt, the technology on board the apollo 11 is no more powerful than a calculator etc etc....

IIRC Mythbusters did a whole episode on the moon landing a while back and everything they tested turned out to be true.

Not saying that is the be all and end all of the argument but still...
