We're not allowed to contest because of his bad record, its so crap.

THat's not true. We can't have the charge reduced to a reprimand because of his bad record but we can still take it to the tribunal to be heard. If we lose, the 1 week stands, if we win he gets off.

Ok, misinterpreted it.

"Geelong is likely to contest a one-match ban for ruck-forward Cameron Mooney at the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday night. Mooney was offered a one-match suspension by the match review panel for misconduct over what appeared a headbutt on Melbourne's Ben Holland during the Cats' six-point loss to the Demons last Friday night.
He has until Tuesday morning to decide whether to contest the charge at the tribunal.
But because the suspension cannot be reduced with an early plea due to Mooney's long list of prior tribunal appearances, the Cats are likely to try their luck at the judiciary.
The struggling Cats are desperate for Mooney's services in their must-win AFL clash with St Kilda on Friday night, with doubts remaining over whether skipper Steven King will be fit enough to return from a hamstring problem.
If King doesn't come up and Mooney is suspended, the Cats would have few tall options against the Saints".

I was very surprised when it was on the news, I thought they must have been joking. I would think common sense prevails & he gets off with a warning for sheer stupidity. It's time for Bomber to give the players an ultimatum, anything so stupid as what Mooney & Scarlett have done in the past few weeks there should be some sort of club punishment.
I fancy your clubs chances this season if they can get the players back to playing their best footy. Especially in such an even competition, I would think the Cats have probably one of four of the best lists going around this year.

Yeah, it was weak and a joke of a report, but honestly, why was it even done? Bottomline really.

We can whinge all we want, but reality will always dictate Cam's actions to be frowned upon more critically than others. Don't know how many times he needs to go through the routine to figure it out. Yeah, it's injust and rubbish, but it's reality, unfortunately.

Wouldn't surprise me if he contested and beat the charge, but the underlying issue of why it was even done is the bigger matter for mine. I mean, honestly, is Ben Holland even worth it?

It's probably out of frustration. When people get angry many turn to violence (no dah). The players are under pressure from us the fans and the coaching staff. Seems like Scarlett and Mooney have let the pressure get to them in there quest for a win. Unfortunately, Mooney cracked it and made contact with that other guy under the pressure. It's disapointing and I'm sure he is dissapointed in himself for letting it get to him. In his player profile the thing he wanted to improve this year is his temper... well Mooney you have blown that now. We all know theres no use hitting other players etc they need to focus on winning the game! I think it's harder than we think.

Anyway, he SHOULD get off it. Although I'm still dissapointed with his actions. If he didn't do it he wouldn't be in this situation! Silly boy! :(

you guys must be getting fed up of this crap. Mooney is a liability with his undiscipline...cant be that hard to pull his head in. He should be suspended for stupidity, what was he thinking doing it in such close vercinity of an umpire. can't control himself the boy.....needs therapy. Be a shame if he doesnt get off but hes gotta get his act together. Bomber would be fuming.

the umpire in the 'vercinity" didnt even pay a free kick or report mooney, the only contact was their chests. holland was making a late bid for a gold logie.

yes mooney was stupid, but to get a week for being stupid is a bit harsh.

I like how Mooney plays, he has become a fantastic player and put his past indescretions behind him, however I don't think he should sacrifice his firey nature at all. This is footy not netball, I know the game is limp wristed these days butjesus christ at least Mooney shows some emotion and passion, at least he :D:D:D:Ding cares out there. He and Gary Ablett seem to be the only ones who care when we lose.

The Cats fighting is a helluva lot better than what they are doing right now.

I think Mooney is an idiot for letting his frustration out like he did. It lets the team down when he does this becuase the team NEEDS him on Friday night! I'm sure he knows what he did is wrong but yeah he is so unlucky to have to go to the tribunal and everything thats just crap!

Anyway I agree that is is good to see the passion of players ALTHOUGH this sort of passion does not help the team in any way! He should be focusing on the game and how to improve the team so we can win a game or two not letting the other team get the better of him.

That is true I'll admit that. The game has been made so limp wristed on the national level over the last decade that players have to be really careful.

Now whether or not I think players should be able to headbutt each other..:D ..what Mooney did was nothing and even in our current environment, the charge is a joke.
