If he does get 1 week for the incident (which BTW I havent seen yet) maybe Thompson should pull him out of the week after as well. It's not like it really matters anymore if he plays or not. It would be a good thing to do for discipline perhaps. What do others think?

Good call. Hope we don't have a Mad Monday either.

Heard him on krock after the game and his comment in regards to josh hunt last week was along the lines of i'm not going to pull any punches here, but what he did was pretty sh**house. I'd say from a guy as undisciplined as him to be suspended so many times this year, THAT IS PRETTY SH**HOUSE. And him being out for those games ghas cost our club more than what Josh Hunt did!!!!!!!! Who could ever of been stupid enough to nominate him as captain. I myself convinced others that he may be a good selection for the passion he has for the jumper, but his record with this issue surely shows he thinks nothing of what these suspensions do for the team, the structure and for the fans. The person to lead this football club should be someone who gives 110% and is out on the park to lead. Names that come to mine are Chapman, Corey, even Jarrod Rooke for the absolute commitment he gives to every contest.........

100% agreed bradlz. I heard that too and thought what a bloody hypocrite. Hunt's one-off is not that bad, it's just the "tough" Footy code that makes it so bad (the "Oh soft, soft, where's your handbag" rubbish). But Mooney's ongoing macho crap (undisciplined thuggery) is much worse and KEEPS COMING UP!!! It sh1ts me to such an extent I'm gonna change the number on my GFC guernsey. Probably a bit late to change my BigFooty name though...

Come on Cam, wake up. If you're doing this stuff through frustration cos you haven't got enough to do on-field then find a way to cope cos you're really starting to damage us when we don't have you available. Try and play like you did in the 05 finals and you'll be a legend! Keep up this stupid crap and you'll end up retiring by the end of 07 cos no-one will be able to trust you...

Mooney is a half wit and should never be in consideration for captain.

You don't rag your team mates out on the radio, thats just unprofessional and stupid.

I think he's under the misconception that biffing guys makes himself look tough...

It doesn't!

Every game this year that Mooney has been suspended for, we have won, haven't we?
Should we really be worried that he'll be out again?

Maybe next year, he can come out in Rd1, punch an umpire and expose himself to the crowd, go to the tribunal charged with conduct unbecoming, get a ban for a season... here comes the premiership!

In other words technique.

No, its intention.

If I'm running at a bloke and the situation warrants contact, I choose how I do that. If I'm a hard, fair player like a Michael Voss I can go in hard with the shoulder (elbow tucked in) or the hip and give him something to think about. If I'm a moron like our friend Cam I can avoid body-on-body contact altogether and just throw a punch or stick my elbow out and whack him in the kidneys as I go past, and get reported AGAIN.

I agree, with a fine to boot. Make it really hurt this time. Maybe then he'll wake up to himself. It's a shame his season has petered out this way though. He was the catalyst for the turn around in form in the latter half of the season IMO.

2 weeks, no reductions possible unless a successful appeal occurs.

Wonder if one of his team mates will jump on radio and tell everyone how "*****HOUSE" that is...

If we get to rediculous about this and cut his salary by X-amount, Mooney has plenty of bargaining power and could easily walk for more than what we were offering.

I dont think his pay will be cut at all - but the current deal whereby he donates 5k a wk whenever he is suspended to a charity seems fair enough for me.

Two weeks!
Now, the joker that whacks Sam Mitchell in the goolies gets one, so clearly Mooney's previous history has played a pretty big part in the length of his suspension.
Don't think he'll play again this year.

Its been a horror year for Mooney in terms of his anger issues, i thought he had gotten over it last year :(

Now he'll miss the rest of the year (if he doesn't challenge it).....who the hell shepards a play with their fist

1st time I have seen the incident was on the news tonight when they said he got 2. I really didn't see much was just a sheperd IMO and looked like less than bells the other week because at least it was in play. I would have thought maybe a match because of his record but 225 point compared to bells 70 or 80 is a large difference.

argh he is so frustrating - will he ever learn?!?!?!
it'll be interesting to see if the club contest it...not really much point is there?
if it wasn't for his temper he'd be an ideal captain but he needs to get that under control before he would even be considered.

Would it be feasible if the club put a clause in his contract that he loses a certain percentage of his match payment if he gets suspended, ie. 5% for the first offence, 10% for the second, etc.? And offer him a bonus at the end of the season if he doesn't get reported during the season. I don't know how it would work with the salary cap and all, but might be a good incentive for him to pull his head in a bit.

Clubs are booking players in now for post season surgery eg knees ,ankles, shoulders and wrists is, a partial lobotomy out of the question before you consider trading him ?:D
